Jongwe for Shumba actually wouldn't be too bad in this format.

We have confounded expectations by qualifying for super six and also beating pakistan.
Houghton mission has been realised
We have bloodied a big nose in pakistan also a key houghton narrative.

Still our strength is in our bowling. We need to rip things up after the world up and look at other players other than shumba and chakhabva and dare i say ervine for our next edition in 2024.

I think what Rajput tried to do in Europe last year is what needs to happen after this world cup. I think Ervine, Regis and Williams have to retire from this format. I would 100% want to keep Williams out of all them but I have doubts he will be playing in 2024. That's the only reason why I would also say he has to step aside because he still has the quality. As for Regis and Ervine I think we need to move on in T20s.

Shumba has to go find some form.

One thing Ervine does have is experience. He effectively won us that game against scotland
For all the talk of Marumani and he is excellent he may well have panicked in that situation and got out early and we would have been on plane home.

Ervine has been a good servant to ZC cricket and i hope he continues in the one day and test format for a bit longer

Will be interesting to see how many T20s we have before the World Cup. I assume that Ervine, Regis and Williams to keep going until the 50 over world cup qualifiers.

The wicket keeping position is the big one, shame that PJ has made it clear that Ireland is his option and Zimbabwe is not. Personally I think it may be worth seeing if Marumani can keep in T20 cricket, at least give him the chance to see what he can do.

We lost a game we should have won against Bangladesh and we won a game we should have lost with Pakistan.

Looks like our fate in this competition is now sealed, we did well to qualify for the World Cup and even pushed ourselves harder to get into the Super 12.

What will distinguish our players from others is them accepting their mediocre performances against Bangladesh as a normal.

Our players need individual and collective hunger to be seen at a World Cup competition.

If they are looking for contracts to play in IPL,BPL,CPL and other leagues the World Cup is the place to show case your skills.

I see Burl get picked to play in the BPL today. He really needs to go up the order, getting a bit silly now.

Ervine should not be dropped or anything. Its just that it was very poor captaincy

Yes despite all the positivity over the last few months, there isn’t a lot of long term depth I can see coming through. Once the big 4 retire it’s going to be struggle street unless they can come convince the likes of Myers, Muyeye, Welch, Byrom, and the Schadendorfs to return.

I’ve been meaning to go through and compare the rate of U19s players who went on to play for Zimbabwe or domestic cricket in the late 90s and early 2000s compared to the last 4-5 World Cup sides.

Maybe someone with more time can do it so we can compare the numbers, but there really seems to be no pathway from the U19s to the national side anymore.

I think for Williams a lot will depend on how we manage him and what Dave has planned for him. I definitely think he can play till 2024 but will probably need to give up a format if he wants to play in the world cup

I'm not into this narrative that Ervine was responsible for the loss
