Waddington Mwayenga it is!

The ground (Mutare) and Gambhir must have given enough hints about the match.

BRMT is spot on. I thought GF would hav been easily identified but RDS got confused (may b, bcoz of bat in left hand).
Arnott used to have this coloured helmet so often in tests.

So the answer is G.Flower & K.Arnott at HSC

Here's a tricky one (I think so anyway):

Who is this man, and briefly explain the significance of why he is batting.

I was trying to find Andy Flower's pic in google images to load it in my profile when i found the same pic which i have used in photo quiz. Surprising thing is that BBC quoted its Andy flower & Arnott in Zim's debut test.
what a blunder!!!
we all know who opened.

Well, its Geoff Marsh, former coach of Zimbabwe. That's not difficult to identify. Another Zimbabwe connection is, of course, he is the father of Sean Ervine's partner :)

But the difficult part is why he is batting? I would say, becuase he was a batsman!

Geoff Marsh is the correct answer :)

True  - but why (there are probably a number of reasons, I'll accept any) was he batting in the match that the photo was taken in?

Ah ha! Chairman's Eleven Vs. Zimbabwe. October 1, 2003. (Courtesy: Cricinfo Search :))
Streak further rocked the Chairman's XI when an edge from Shaun Marsh flew to third slip, where Dion Ebrahim took the catch, resulting in a first-ball duck. That denied Geoff Marsh, the Zimbabwe coach and former Australian and Western Australia opener, the chance to bat with his son. Obviously enjoying the chance to put his coach under some pressure, Streak set a field with nine slips: Marsh almost obliged him by edging the second ball he faced to second slip, but it was dropped.

Good story indeed...

I'll pay that. He was playing for the Australian team (in order to play alongside his son Shaun Marsh) against the Zimbabweans, who he was coaching at the time. :)
