Re: Test XI - Windies series
At least they've performed at the top level before. Sadly, Maruma hasn't - maybe it's a psychological thing, who knows. But there's no way we should still be gifting games to him over blokes who have actually shown some grit at test level.
Re: Test XI - Windies series
I was always a Maruma hater, but I’ve seen him play some insane innings on streams in domestic games. He’s actually got quite a bit of style about him.
But as a few have pointed out, he shits himself on the international stage for some reason. Chari is another like that, he’s always looked pretty hopeless barring a couple of half centuries, but man he’s played some crazy knocks for Tuskers.
let’s just hope the Windies enforce the follow on (high key unlikely) and a few of these guys redeem themselves in the 2nd innings.

Maruma has always been a warm-up game specialist. He'd score a hundred against India if it was a warm-up.

Ya nobody wants bowling practice. Let's see who bats next, innings change

Re: Test XI - Windies series
Another massive downside of Williams/Raza/Burl potentially all missing…..so we have to pick two specialist spinners?
Ideally we’d want three seamers and at least two spin options. If we are going to pick, Ervine, Ballance, Chibhabha, Maruma, Madande as our middle order - where are the bowling options coming from?
Mavuta and Masakadza would take us down to number 9, only room for two seamers? Not enough.
No idea how we are going to line up next week. I imagine the selectors currently have no idea either and desperately trying to work something out.
This warm up match has been a disaster in terms of selections.
I don’t think we can now pick any of Maunze/Gumbie/Makoni.
Wes has pretty much nailed his coffin and neither Shumba or Munyonga have impressed.
I’m glad I’m not a selector right now

Re: Test XI - Windies series
They need to call Burl back from the BPL, he should never have been given a NOC to miss this series, particularly as they new Raza would be missing and with the knowledge of Williams' injury.
Might as well just chuck Campbell into the mix as he is a like for like Burl replacement.
I agree with secret, I would not want to be a selector. Can't work out how this side can be given balance without a spinning allrounder.

I still think Burl will be back and play both matches tbh. But the rumours say otherwise

Re: Test XI - Windies series
It's bit sad, because if we had all of Muzarabani/Williams/Burl/Raza/Chakabva I reckon we could give West Indies a run for their money.
As it stands now it's looking like a bit of a bloodbath. We definitely need some of these guys back.
