There is a serious need to bring back the Southern Rocks who i think were a competitive LIST A side they did win the Metbank T20 and the Pro50 showing some sort of potential in the south east of Zimbabwe. The other squad should be an u23 academy squad that has the kids from the under 19 team cutting their teeth at a higher level. The truth is that we need is more games and a longer season. We simply play little cricket.
Why is there a 'serious need'?

-Us having a small player pool is just a fact? Its not really something thart can be argued against. My personal cricket association, conmsisting of teams across 8 sydney suburbs (sydney has 152 suburbs) has more cricket teams that Harare.
-An u/23 academy team will only be about level with a club side. So by all means have this squad team, but in the Harare metro league.
-Adding franchises will damage zimbabwean cricket immensely. The gulf is TOO WIDE betwee international and the Logan cup. Widening it wont help.
-costs. We are already broke, why add unneccessary expenses.

We should go to a three wy franchise system with emphasis on expanding club level.
Anyone even close to being good enough to playing for Zim, will be playing franchise, believe me.

The club scene in Zimbabwe should really be at the level of our first class cricket. The key to a successful domestic structure is a strong club scene, not just adding more first class teams so everyone gets chosen.

There is a status quo at the franchises.

When 1st league clubs are at full strength they are just as good as any franchise. The club scene is strong. Remember I am an eye witness.

The average franchise player gets 300 bucks a month for 5 months of the year. U could earn alot more being a local gardener. ZC are not short of money, believe me. Its just the fat useless ZC imbassils funneling it all through into their pockets. It wont change.
