I would probably prefer Madande over Campbell and he takes the gloves with Gumbie putting all his efforts into opening. That’s if we have to pick Wellington which is more likely than an 8-3 combination.CalZim wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2024 6:51 pmThe 11 I would go for is:
Gumbie (wk)
Masvaure
Ervine (C)
Bennett
Myers
Williams
Campbell
Masakadza
Ngrava
Muzarabani
Nyauchi
Bench
Chatara
Chivanga
Kaia
Madande
Would like to fit Madande in but I don’t see where, Masakadza is a cert in that squad without Raza, they won’t trust Williams, Bennett and Masvaure to make up the overs for spin (as much as we would like them to). It will be seam friendly conditions perfect for Nyauchi with the new ball.
Actually really excited about our seam bowling attack for this match.

Re: Test Match Squad for Ireland
Regardless squad components the pity is going to Belfast for an only Test.
(At least) a second Test would have better amortized the overheads without too detrimental additional cost due to the second Test.
The other issue would be the notoriously "sunny" Belfast: it's a not at all remote risk that this only Test would likely turn out in a washed out draw.

The squad is already in England and will be there until early next weekend so it looks like they might play a warm-up game? Or just training and getting used to conditions.

I’m glad Josh Little made himself unavailable, he’s a handful.
