Ya man, that was a fantastic age group, they used to smash the South African provincial sides, if those guys had stuck together we'd be having a different conversation. The one seamer is still here, forgetting his name, still looks useful. Tinker had a lot to do with these guys, he was a good junior coach. He also had a lot to do with Muyeye's development.
That's my yardstick, ask a guy who he developed into a real player.
Yea I think in that batch of under 19s we had ngarava matigimu and also William mashinge.
William hasn't really set domestic cricket alight. Feel he has a make or break season next year really. Has potential of course.
Ngarava of course has done well against Ireland and Scotland recently and has won us some 20/20 games. That boy has everything height pace bounce. Only thing missing is an Inswinger

Quinton de Kock has retired from Test cricket, this feels like it has something to do with CSA

Less kneeling required, perhaps?
He must make so much money on the T20 circuit vs Rands at 15:1 and clearly doesn't like somebody there.
Who will be his replacement?

Exactly!!! This is where cricket is going. There’s way too much money on the T20 global circuit for a talented, big hitter like De Kok to be bogged down in test cricket. He can make more playing shorter games than spending 4-5 days in the baking sun, hunched over getting a regular salary. Plus quitting tests will prolong his career, meaning that he’ll earn more $$$$.

I don’t think it has anything to do with kneeling. However coercing him to kneel and say “Black Lives Matter” against his will was as repressive and abusive as the system these “activist” claim to be fighting, it should never be forced on him or anyone.

His replacement?? SA hasn’t even replaced Smith, Amla, AB, Kalllis and other top batsmen who retired 3-5 years ago!! This is only going to prolong thier journey back to the top of test cricket

The UAE is looking to out-invest the Indian billionaires by throwing bigger bundles of cash at big-hitting international batsmen-allrounders. A lot of cricketers are going to re-evaluate the benefits of playing 5 day cricket and/or playing for thier nations and simply commit to being global T20 mercenaries. If the USA decides that they want a piece of the action and have the money and corporate cash to burn, international cricket will become a glorified shopping display for global T20 teams

You intrigue me.
I can’t recall another poster who I can be so ‘wtf’ in some posts then nod my head like Drake reading word for word at others. This being the latter.
CSA just feels like too much drama. I’ve tuned out from them years ago.
They are almost as bad as zim with their retirements and exits.

Quinton has made it clear he is still available for ODI and T20I's though. So it may not be CSA issues or kneeling or anything.

It's pretty impossible for anyone to play all three formats plus the IPL (which is being extended next year) and anything else, especially with quarantines and bubble stuff. He's having a kid I think.

I think we are going to move to mostly specialist and separate red ball and white ball squads and coaches pretty soon. I think that will be England's solution post-Ashes.

There is going to come a point where the world is truly over T20. Over saturation. Too many mercenary plastic soulless clubs that copy the IPL in meaningless competitions. Also with weird names.
Like what the fuck is a (Chennai) Super king?
That’s something a 4 yr old would say when he runs into his parents room wearing a costume with a cape.
.
I’d also be curious on the IPL viewership stats. I wonder if there’s a hype hangover.

 for sure. A super-King. At least they're not Starlets, they have a lot to be grateful for.

What will be interesting is if T20 ever gains traction in USA.
Whilst it's bad for red ball and ODI, I do enjoy the fact that cricketers can earn some genuine money that they can retire off or at least have a nest egg at the end of their careers. There are some really good cricketers that are poorly paid and probably poorly treated. It's likely only the Aussies, English and Indians that pay their top guys really well. An average county player probably gets 5k a month, tax takes a chunk and by the time they're 35 they're not equipped to do anything else and don't have much in the bank. Let's not even start on the average Zim pro!!

The problem is that T20 is a good way to get new people involved. Strauss and Co didn't think it was enough and decided to punt the 100 for that shorter viewership time slot.

I agree that the Poms are probably going to put more emphasis on red ball and they may make their pitches a bit more batting friendly. Most of their pitches are 250-300 decks a lot of the time. Actually when they get a dry spell you see lots of hundreds over that period so weather is a big factor as well. They also split their 4 day stuff, half played at the beginning of the season and the remainder at the end, that may change.
