With the XI being so bad, I would have thrown in Marumani just for some fun 8-)

Just saw Kaia averages 27 in first class cricket. Thats not a great average.
Putting it in the Zim context of things not bad figures at all. Some have been selected with far less figures. For now he looks the most accomplished batsman out there.

Hugely disappointing morning.

Kaia & Shumba look okay so far. We are going to need a wicketless session after lunch. :|

Wesley should have been on the test team. The other batters don't inspire much confidence in me.
He shouldn't have been dropped.

jaybro mentioned that Wes is ruled out due to hamstring injury. I can't imagine selectors keeping him out of the 15 completely if not for an injury, surely.

I was disappointed he wasn't in the squad too but having given it some thought I think its wise to protect him. This series is going to be a blood bath. I posted this earlier;
Was thinking about the Wes discussions earlier in the thread. I don't know if he was dropped/injured/or what. I was disappointed he wasn't included initially.

But actually I'm pleased he isn't in this squad. He had a terrible Test series against Afghanistan. Lots of our senior players are missing here and theres a high chance we are going to get trounced in both matches. Wes playing here - so quickly after his poor Afg series - could absolutely destroy his confidence and his interest in this format.

He's just has a great T20 series. Let him enjoy that. Let him have a month outside of the bio-secure bubble to recharge. Bring him back for the Bangladesh series where we will have big name players back and we have a much greater chance of being competitive.

It's good to protect him. He's still so young remember.

I would just like to see us being proactive in tests. Our opening pair are very defensive and that leads to us having a low score when we lose wickets, so everyone else who comes in then tries to consolidate by being even more defensive and we end up going at such a slow rate that we put all the pressure on ourselves.

The bowlers are on top of us from the very beginning regardless of the pitch or situation. Against Afghanistan we had Willo to save us. This time around we don't have that.

Our mentality is not right for tests and it's no wonder teams don't want to play us in this format. They would crush us.

Yikes, was working and missed that carnage. This could be over quick.

wes is rightfully dropped. he must be nurtured in first class level instead of destroying his confidence so quickly in his starting career
