Sorry its a bit scrambled but these are Vusi's stats.
Not dissimilar.
The most frustrating batsman for me, a genuine talent with unbelievable technique.
It just shows that once you get to a certain level the rest of the game is between your ears, he should have been a star if he'd had different thought processes when he was out in the middle.

There's a common denominator here- a weak FC system.
Taylor seems to be the only guy that found a way around that. He came from an era of very strong schoolboy cricket and had a lot of good coaching and pounded balls as a kid.
He had lean times at the start of his career in a very weak team. With proper structures and senior players his stats would have been in the rarified atmosphere of high 40's.
BT with a club foot, blind in one eye and 30kg overweight would still be our best batsman.
When he's on song he's as good as anyone.

Elton had a better career than Ervine for me who you have at 10. At his peak he was serious
Seriously dude?

Elton stats:

Test: Ave - 21.07 50s - 4 100s - 0
ODI: Ave - 25.23 50s - 19 100s - 2

Ervine stats:

Test: Ave - 35.52 50s - 4. 100s - 3
ODI: Ave - 31.90 50s - 15 100s - 3

It literally a no contest when you look at the stats. Craig even has better stats in T20s which is meant to be Eltons forte. It's completely a no contest.

We are just going to forget the 138 international wickets Elton took right? I’m talking about Elton at his peak. Not now. The Elton who got a county gig as an international player right. I can tell you now Elton won more games for Zimbabwe than Ervine has

Yes I think we're going to forget the wickets Chigumbura took because the list was top 10 best batsmen...

Tatenda Taibu might have a shout at top 10 though? Had a better test average than Alistair Campbell and Grant Flower.

If it’s strictly batting then Duncan Fletcher and Sean Ervine are not in our top 10 batsmen of all time

But he was coming of age when he left. He scored an ODI ton, was taking wickets and he scored 3 fifties in his last 5 test innings.

Having said that, I don’t think he should be regarded as one of the best. Had a short career

No Black
Say what ever but Hami scored over 5000 runs in Odis
He deserves to be in top 10
I don't base my selection on skin colour. I base it on quality of the player.

For all his 5000 runs, he still only averages 27. Not good enough for a player who played as often as he did as an opener.
Hami has a better ODI average than Houghton and a better test average than Johnson. All great players if you ask me. Just look at how we haven’t found somebody to replace Hami yet. Opening is not easy. I think Burl might be the only player right now with the technique required to play a long opening innings.

All I’m saying is that let’s not knock these guys because we see them play regularly. The older generations also had their struggles. These guys have had it tough. I blame the system for failing the likes of Hami, Vusi, Chamu, Taibu and Elton more than I blame the players. Had they been in another system they would have had much better stats. They had the talent

Wes has gotten to be involved in 2 fine centuries at the very beginning of his career. He is seeing what he is doing wrong. He is being coached by that middle order. The previous generation had nobody
