There is zero chance of a Cartwright coming back, I live in Western Australia and have mutual friends through club cricket with him. He loves it here and is not fond of zim cricket at all, the other west Aussie zimbo is goodwins son who if you search back I said when he was 16 will wear a baggy green one day. He just made the prime ministers 11 team batting 3 against the touring Indians. Aussie selectors have had him on the radar for a while, he’s started to bat 3 for wa in an era of dominance and one or the best wa sides in history and contributed with big scores in big games on tough wickets. He’s not consistent enough yet but the talent is elite, he will be playing for aus once
This generation goes in smith Usman marnus ect imo. I rate him
Big time and so do aussie selectors, there isn’t a hell of a lot of young kids better than him in the country. Because he plays for
WA he wasn’t spoke about like kids from nsw coming through are. He has great temperament and technique, beautiful off his pads and an elite drive of the ball straight or through the covers. If Zimbabwe could bring anyone home to play for us he would be my number one choice, but sadly he’s a future aussie test player :(
Indian and English cricket is a cult and bazball is delusional and embarrassing. Bumrah chucks it, Cummins has a shocking seam position, stokes is a fraud. Bangladesh shouldn’t have test status, Bradman was a coat.Marco Jansen is good, zim will rise !

Have any ZC staff or Raza spoken about an intentional rebuild? I haven't followed Zimbabwe as closely over the last 12 months, but it's good that there are young players coming through - are some of the older players being overlooked based on age or performance?

I know Williams and Ervine are no longer playing T20 but there are a few other names I was surprised not to see mentioned.
By good young players who do you mean ? All I’m seeing is very average cricketers being picked again and again due to a Quota system, board favourites or having strings to pull behind the scenes ( cough cough razas best mate cough ) if anyone actually thinks our board and selectors are actually doing what is best for Zimbabwe cricket then one you are either incredibly stupid, racist, or a board member. We have potential to be a solid team but the way it’s going, we will be playing Nigeria and Uganda on a regular basis. Raza has sold his soul for power which then in return means he must praise the board and their shocking decisions and downright corruption. Cricket in Zimbabwe is on life support over egos and past grudges, corruption, hate and
Bitterness.
I don’t bend understand the past grudges thing because the ZCU were hellbent on getting blacks into the game.
It seems people like Mutendera think they were ripped off, but I remember Mutendera, he was 100% a quota token and was a failure internationally. If he played now, he wouldn’t be in the conversation at all.
Akram is only there because he pays to play. Open secret.

How something like that is going on in a test playing nation needs to be properly investigated. I know there is no proof but to have people getting a game over who you know, money or skin colour instead of being picked on skill must be a icc law. If we don’t comply we lose our funds, if we lose our funds these guys go away. I’d rather us be penalised than being able to get away with blatant corruption. Zim cricket has been such a hard following for us fans when it could be made so much more enjoyable by simply having good people that actually care in positions of power.

Is this Tom Curran thing realistic? Does he need to do any kind of residency?

He’d be on decent cashish at Surrey, probably want free rein like raza to play in t20 leagues. Why would they even want a diaspora murungu when they don’t play the local varungu?!

During the next series, I think its going to be extremely telling if we see Faraz in the starting XI for the T20. How a man with a bowling average of 128 and an economy of 10 can even be in selection discussion is beyond me. I'm hoping the selectors listen to sense at the very least and consider those performing domestically. Innocent Kai is somebody who i would really like to see be given a chance again. I really rated him when he scored that ODI century against Bangladesh a few years ago.

The obvious selection for all formats is going to be Welch. Burl probably sneaks into the T20 squad based on his bowling more than anything, but he's on very very thin ice. I wouldn't expect to see him start though.

I still think Burl is a much better batter than J Campbell big you just can't ignore this bloke's stats. What's good to see as well is that he's back bowling.

Will be interesting to see how the ODI batting lineup performs. I'm assuming from the T20s you only get Raza Bennett and Myers in the top 7 with Gumbie, Curran, Ervine and Williams taking the other 4 spots. They might give Maru a start over Ben initially then whoever is struggling between him and Gumbie and maybe Myers will get dropped.

If selection really is the issue then these guys should perform better in theory.

I think if we see Faraz Akram again in international colours, the board would have pushed the envelope a little too far and that would be very difficult to hide in a corruption probe, if they have not already.

I hope Faraz is satisfied larping as an international cricketer and making an embarrassment of himself.

Why would you humiliate yourself like that in front of thousands? the mind boggles.
