Ive always felt that Streak does indeed have a favourite.
That favourite is Mpofu.
Bob was first man picked when Streak was bowling coach, sometimes the ONLY pacer picked.
He was awol, and i thought he was finished during Bundu/Mangongo/Whatmore/Ntinis tenure but with Streaks return, Bobby is front and centre again.
A Bulawayo thing i think.
That said, he deserves to be among the ODI pool.

Generally, Bulawayo people are not mad. You need your head examined if you pick Mpofu in a Test ahead of Panyangara. More so when you pick 3 specialist bowlers in a Test match and are surprised to be chasing 434 to win early in the 1st session of the 4th day.ZIMDOGGY wrote: ↑Tue Oct 24, 2017 11:38 amIve always felt that Streak does indeed have a favourite.

Things that happen in ZIM cricket are truly mind-boggling

Has he been in good form domestically or something? I can't understand why that boy keeps getting picked....

But when did Mawoyo play, zimdoddy and when was Burl good?
Also Justice Chibhabha was just middling.
Therefore its clear that with the absence of anybody putting their hands up, they decided to take a gamble on Mire. Boom or bust, none of those three was ever going to provide anything significantly better.
So far it worked well enough (nobody knows for how long) and its clear he has earned himself two more innings - possibly another two against SA - as opener.

Burl averages over 40 in first class cricket that’s why he’s good ConantConant wrote: ↑Tue Oct 24, 2017 11:50 amBut when did Mawoyo play, zimdoddy and when was Burl good?

Yeah, the Taylor cut makes a comeback (look at my avatar and how he brought up his WC century vs India).

Alan Wilkins had no idea, thought it was a mis-hit.
I thought the field placement by Holder was pretty ingenious actually.

Hahahaha. I dunno Pariah. I'm quite proud of being a nutter from Bulawayo!
But seriously though. I can only assume Waller was picked as a bat - because he's only bowled 2 overs - but he's only made 11 and his test average is 23. I would think another batsman, like Burl perhaps, or even another seamer would have been a better option.
On the Williams front, I'm more open to him playing because his average is approaching 30 (29 something) plus he can chip in with the ball. He's also a leftie which is a bugger to bowl to and can often upset a bowler's rhythm - so he has positives.
On picking Bobby - hmmm, he's a nice chap but I'd rate Chatara and Panyangara higher than him to be honest. What's happened to them? I can only think that Streak is hoping his height will lead to greater bounce and get wickets. In fairness I don't think he's bowled badly I just prefer our other seamers.
I think Steak and Taibu got it right picking Taylor and Jarvis as they've gained decent experience in County Cricket which we badly need. I also think they got it right with Mire to as he has some Aussie experience, and those guys are absolute maniacs to play against - I'm hoping some of that famous Aussie venom has rubbed off on him TBH!
