Yes, I agree completely. They knew the scenario when they hired Taibu and in fact they still virtually begged him to come on board. Now suddenly it's an issue. Taibu also asked for other selectors he could work with, but none were hired.CrimsonAvenger wrote: ↑Sat Apr 07, 2018 1:57 amhttp://www.chronicle.co.zw/zc-already-l ... nd-streak/
Interesting. I'm assuming everyone except Taibu has done this to ensure there is still future for them with ZC, while Taibu might have done it out of sheer frustration. Now this is a lone losing battle for Streak and Mangongo. It has also emerged that some of the backroom staff — including Walter Chawaguta, Stanley Chioza, Douglas Hondo, Prosper Utseya, Gregory Lamb and Convenor of Selectors Tatenda Taibu — have all handed their resignations to the board as demanded by the authorities.
LOL. Someone must be preparing himself to climb up the tomato tree and hang himself.“We hope within the next six weeks we would have filled in those vacancies well in time for the triangular series. So there is ample time to put the structures to prepare for that series,” said Mukuhlani.
I don't get it. They hired Taibu and did not give him all these ultimatums when they gave him the job of convener of selectors and now / or midway they started negotiating with him for relocation. How is that exactly the right approach when you are hiring someone for a job you have advertised? Shouldn't something as blatantly obvious as expectation of relocation be made a necessity in the first place?“I think we need to be clear why we asked Tatenda to step aside. The convenor was not able to watch domestic cricket because he is resident in Liverpool. That became a point of contention with stakeholders.
“When we brought in Tatenda to be convenor, it was the same time he was relocating to England. Initially, we actually understood his predicament, his family was settling in England and so he needed to be there with them but, thereafter, we did try to convince the convenor that you need to be in Zimbabwe and we have not made progress.
“What has ended up happening was that Heath has been the selector, the convenor, the coach for the Zimbabweans — all in one — for the Zimbabwe national team.
“If Tatenda can commit to make time to watch domestic cricket, surely he will be considered. But if he doesn’t have time we will definitely look at people with the time to watch games.
Who decided that the selection panel would only consist of Streak and Taibu? Did they decide it for themselves? No. The board took that decision. How can they now whine about too much power with one man / two people? This is where you clearly see what a bunch of jokers they are. Quick to latch on to the convenient loopholes they had created to blame others and get away.
While I have always said Taibu picking sides from the UK and having a selection committee of two people is wrong, look how the ZC now uses these situations that they created intelligently themselves, to now shift blame onto the two most respected cricketers to have come out of the country. Disgrace.

Re: Streak and Technical Team given notice
Taibu was put there to get rid of Makoni, nothing more complicated than that. My parrot on crystal meth pecking at a board of random names could pick a more balanced team than Makoni.
In Streak’s interview he points out that their selection “panel” was him, Taibu, Cremer, Hondo and Klusener- more than 1000 international caps between them.
He justified playing an extra seamer against UAE and Moor’s inclusion ahead of Zhuwao.
Losing this must win game might turn out to be a God Send if this upheaval finally ousts these fellows.

Well it looks like Taibu and a few others actually resigned and can be brought back into the system. This complicates matters. They are also using a divide and conquer tactic by praising Taibu. I hope he doesnt fall for it. Utseya also resigned as expected. I wonder what Greg Lamb is thinking right now because he also resigned. Will he reapply?
I wonder what exactly this "contractual obligation" to qualify for the world cup is exactly. Sounds ridiculous. Why would anybody sign that?

Re: Streak and Technical Team given notice
a termination clause based on non qualification is possible, but then it would come into force automatically wouldn’t it, so he wouldn’t be asked to resign or need to be fired.
There’s no point in looking at the legalities of all of this, it’s a vote of no confidence. Nothing changes, players stand firm and someone has to get Richardson onsides, I’m guessing Streak, Taibu, Mangongo or even Campbell need to talk to ICC, or engage someone like Houghton who can. This is far more exciting than qualification, we stand a real chance at turning things around if this is done properly.

I f i may critique this Chronicle garbage written by the ZC suck up writer. And also Crimsonavengers misnomer
Crimson- first of all Tomato trees don't exist but this annoyed me, coming from someone like you who knows better!
So you hired him as he was, yet Stakeholders realised he couldn't do his job. SO fire yourself and let stakeholders take over- again you display you and your boards incompetence.
What also makes me laugh is Mukuhlani says all affected can reapply for jobs and they will be considered impartially and on merit. Two problems
1)ZC Board doesn't know how to hold impartial interviews
2) Go ahead and give any one of us our job back and we will sue you for unfair dismissal you so ignorant you make Jade Goody look like a professor.
Think about it you force us to resign or sack us(same thing!) for what you claim is underperformance. So as soon as you rehire us then you make it clear that we didn't actually underperform or the alleged underperformance is ok hence we shouldn't have been fired/forced to resign in the first place. Hence lawsuits for unfair dismissal. You really are a collection of dumb c56ts (there must be a word for that? A gaggle?)

This quote from Muku displays his ignorance about sport- in 6 weeks we will be half way through May players are not playing currently. So the next hirees will have about 6 weeks to get players in shape and ready to face the top two teams in the world??? Mukuhlani you are a deluded muppet.“We hope within the next six weeks we would have filled in those vacancies well in time for the triangular series. So there is ample time to put the structures to prepare for that series,” said Mukuhlani.

This is not about Streak and Mangongo its about failing to get into the WC and the fault lies squarely on ZC Board-they claim it on their web page even. It's not about getting their jobs back, it's about realisation that the Board who has OVERALL AUTHORITY also has OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY FOR FAILURE.Now this is a lone losing battle for Streak and Mangongo.

Mate, I was just re-quoting what Makhaya Ntini said when he took over in similar circumstances just before that fateful home series against Indiajimmylesaint wrote: ↑Sat Apr 07, 2018 2:00 pmCrimson- first of all Tomato trees don't exist but this annoyed me, coming from someone like you who knows better!

Re: Streak and Technical Team given notice
The six weeks he is talking about is good. It gives the players some time to mobilize and strike. If they had filled the positions and got the season going again that would then tell the ICC that everything is ok.

Anyone any views on this?
Now we need the players on board. I dont know if they are all agreeing with this but if they want change then they have to act now.
Just a bit concerned about the ICC and its rules. Can we remove a board in between elections? What if they say why cant you wait until the next elections then vote them out? They can say 2019 is not that far and people can wait.
I think creating parallel structures is difficult because in the end the money will still be sent to Mukuhlani and co. A lot of chairmans are not former cricket players too. It will set a dangerous precedent for them. Thats why I think the ICC wont support external action.
It has to come from within. I think our best bet would be to force an early election and lobby people like Temba to make sure we get the right people in charge. I dont think the ICC can ignore all the players and coaches and stakeholders passing a vote of no confidence and demanding an early election.
What I dont know are the election rules and ZC constitution. They have made them a secret on purpose. We dont see auditing results. We dont even know who is on the board.
Also.. Metbank owes ZC money? I thought it was the other way round. Very interesting

Apparently World Cup qualification was a key deliverable so he can be fired for that. Also leaking the email with the MD is another offence as it can be considered "confidential information". You know that confidentiality paragraph thats tagged in work emails in most companies. Dont know if ZC have that tag. He might not have made it public himself but he definitely sent it to someone. The tags do sometimes say you can be fired for that
Its going to be a brutal fight.
