People are forgetting that Mukhulani asked for suspension knowing full well what that meant.
This is not the SRC or interim boards fault. It's one man and his band of thieves stroking their egos to get what they want that's best for them. Not best for the game, players, or fans.
Mukhulani asked to be suspended
I feel for Langton. I honestly do, but he could be doing so much more and achieving so much more with a far more competent board. Same for the ladies. They could have a local league. More tours at home and away. Opportunities to play in other leagues. If Myers is as good as she seems, no reason why she can't be knocking on the door of WBBL.
Can't say Zimbabwe is at par with those nations when they've been resoundingly beaten by Ireland and Netherlands. If we were at par with them, we would have qualified for WC regardless of rain.

Re: #ZCBOARD MUST GO
Yes I agree, they are equally bad. Could have allowed Zimbabwe to play cricket like they are doing with Nepal. And USA. ICC sucks anyways.brmtaylor.com admin wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2019 10:19 amWhy shouldn't the spotlight be on the ICC then?
They are the ones that control the purse strings, it's ultimately up to them whether the people in Zimbabwe keep their jobs in cricket or not.
Re: #ZCBOARD MUST GO
Yep that was a game changer, literally.
It still would have burned to see these guys milking that windfall, but we would have had a big extension. They ultimately would have still gotten rid of the likes of Streak and Taibu though because they would have still been a threat to complete control.

Re: #ZCBOARD MUST GO
Is there proof TM asked for suspension?
I mean, I think it's clear he did because these are the people we are dealing with. But where was it confirmed?

I'm not convinced, unfortunately. My hunch is that there's a lot of personal scores being settled. Ellman-Brown got dumped as a life president didn't he? And Vince Hogg was obviously pushed out due to politics way back. I reckon these guys might see this whole situation as a chance to even the ledger a bit, and if they can help cricket as a result then that's a bonus.Googly wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2019 10:21 amIf they didn’t have a Plan B they would have backed off.
Otherwise you’re saying Minister Coventry, Dr Chiura, Mrs De Jong, Ellman Brown etc are people with an agenda that would rather cricket just stopped. I don’t believe that for one second.
If there’s no plan B we will know within 10 days I reckon.
Re: #ZCBOARD MUST GO
Don’t forget the U19’s in all of this. They’ve been playing cricket since they were 6 years old and been on multiple age group tours and been going at it for a year now. They have got a lot more at stake than the ladies claiming they’ve dedicated their lives to cricket
Ask them where the u19 ICC money that’s been sent to this board so they can tour
This is a separate amount to anything else. Let’s do an audit on that
All the full member u19 sides, the future of every nation’s cricket are touring all over the world playing multiple high level games. Our boys are stuck in Zim playing local sides. Practicing their arses off but being denied the same opportunities that other sides are getting. Where’s the money?

Nope you’re wrong there. There’s an element of revenge but it’s a bonus. These are proper people that would never just sink cricket to even a score. They know people still in the game, parents with kids, players that may want to return etc. I’ll put my life on that.

Re: #ZCBOARD MUST GO
It's very unfortunate that the ladies tour was cancelled due to this, but I get frustrated when people don't see the forest for the trees - as Googly has eluded to, you can't make rash decisions based on a few dozen people who, truthfully, aren't that good at cricket and would get steamrolled by the St Johns U15 let alone another national team. The women's game only exists because of the viability of the men's game, so you have to save the men's game first and then let everything else sort itself out.Googly wrote: ↑Tue Jul 30, 2019 10:33 amDon’t forget the U19’s in all of this. And the U19’s. That’s the nursery. There are a few decent players amongst that lot that should be getting some real attention. And I know about schoolboy cricket. This is the last half decent side we will have. Ain’t no one behind this lot, this is the last of the good kids in a bunch. There’s a few reasonable youngsters scattered throughout the other age groups but here we have a half decent side.
But they don’t give a shit about them. It’s only about the money.

They are the ones that control the purse strings, it's ultimately up to them whether the people in Zimbabwe keep their jobs in cricket or not.
At no point did the ICC prevent or stop Zimbabwe from participating in internationals - i.e. bilaterals.
It's common knowledge in any sport (Football, Rugby, etc), that if the mother body suspends you, you may not participate in any of their organised tournaments (because it's funds they jointly contribute, and you might not be around to contribute to the replenishment of funds you depletedto hold the next tournament - eg ICC fully funded the Qualifiers in ZIM from its kitty). However, your clubs, national teams, players etc, can participate in any Bi-lateral, Tri-Series, Quadrangular, etc, outside of their oversight. Nothing stops Domestic cricket etc from carrying on.
I don't get why the spotlight, should at any point be on the ICC. The ICC is not some isolated body. It is made up of Executive leaders from Member nations. Member nations who contribute a huge amount of funds to the game's finances.
What is stopping Zimbabwe from carrying on is absence of funds. Not because of ICC, but because ZC has always been broke. No reserves/savings. Have always had a huge budget deficit. No TV/Sponsor income etc.
Boards from England, India, Australia etc, would not be keen to see ICC funds being distributed to a rogue/illegal board to spend. That is common sense and that is why there are Constitutions etc.
Let's say the Commonwealth had a fund that distributes aid to countries in need. If there is a member state who they believe is the product of illegal elections, they would suspend it from that body. This is why elections monitors and their reports have significance. Some countries use them in their own parliaments to decide whether to distribute aid/trade with those countries - lest you fund terrorism/human rights abuses.
Zimbabwe, as a Full member which is entitled to huge amounts from the ICC - monies that they do not earn directly - no longer have a legally recognisable Board as per the ICC rules. If I was in charge of CSA, I would veto/oppose any efforts to give money to ZC/Zimbabwe.
What is happening is simple common sense.
Coventry, SRC, Mlotshwa, Googly, Jimmy etc, failed to follow basic common sense and legal prescripts.
The ICC itself has no choice but to suspend Zimbabwe, and cut it off from receiving its funds and participating in its tournaments.
They have given Zimbabwe a period within which to comply. Do not view that as an ultimatum. It's not an ultimatum but kindness.
Simply comply or be cut off. Plain and simple.
Why on earth is this so hard for people to get.
Voice of reason.
Re: #ZCBOARD MUST GO
The tstotis were so arrogant that they didn’t even adhere to the very constitution that they’ve manipulated over the years to keep their kith and kin at the helm, that’s why.
SRC pounced on this non adherence. ICC are ignoring the facts, which is non compliance of their own constitution that they themselves wrote.
