Wonderful result! Congratulations to Hamilton, Vusi, Tatenda and Chiggs who did it with the bat and the spin quartet. Looks like Shingi held his nerve when needed!
Happy for Vusi, even though he was scratchy the whole of the innings, he now has the confidence to come out and do well, expecting a lot from him in the reminder of the series.
Congrats! Big win again!

I see a bit of Jarvis coming in for young Shingi Masakadza . I would also maybe take out Lamb for Timycen Maruma .r@ndom wrote:something tells me that, injuries permitting, it will be an unchanged XI for the 2nd ODI, go Zim!

Lamb the bowler has done much more than expected in the last two matches to warrant a place in the side for his bowling, so I don't think replacing him for another bowler (Maruma, irrespective of how good he is) is an option. Only if Zim thinks of bolstering their batting line up with some firepower, then, he might have to make way for Coventry.Flower power wrote:I see a bit of Jarvis coming in for young Shingi Masakadza . Jarvis for Shingi is a more probable change, but no harm in continuing with the winning combination. After all, both the wins have been due to real team work, with everyone chipping in.

This match was a good experience for the guys. It helped them to really keep calm under pressure and shows what a disciplined performance can do. One of the big things I reckon was how the captain should plan his bowlers, Shingi was not suitable to bowl the last over in my opinion and Prosper definitely should learn from this. More pressure on the Windies and more confidence for the Zimbos. We need to continue this and show the world we are really improving.

Zim have just had two good wins yet some on this forum are still calling for change. Teams and there players who have the winning feeling and know how to win continue to win. Look at the Australian side over the last decade, it's always said that it's harder to get dropped from the team than get selected in the first place.
Lamb and Shringi may not have taken five fors or scored a fifty, yet they both made a pretty fair contribution to Zimbabwe winning a game in which they would have started underdogs. Remembering it was there debut. It's good having Maruma and Jarvis waiting for a game and competition for places is a good thing, but I think Lamb and Shringi have deserved to retain there places.
As for Utseya as captain. I'd imagine he would have used his more experienced bowlers earlier in an attempt to take wickets, which they couldn't so his final option was Shringi and in the end the team won so his decisions can be justified.
I don't think we can judge Utseya until he has actually captained a side with some internationally compotent cricketers playing. Remember this is his first series as captain since the return of some of the rebels.

I'm in the 'no change' camp for the 2nd ODI. The guys are on a roll, leave the winning combination be.

I agree Lamb bowled a decisive spell in the context of the victory. After our major weapon (Pricey-Utseya) became wicketless, he strangulated the scoring and checked the runrate. Had he gone for few runs, the match had been over by 40 overs. So i would suggest persistence with Lamb but Jarv for Shingi. Again this is bit harsh for the young gun. On second thoughts, i would prefer him to bowl in the middle not at all in the death. Personally Jarvis is my preferred choice over Shingi but i would go this time with Crimson, Maehara and Alderman in not changing much.CrimsonAvenger wrote:Lamb the bowler has done much more than expected in the last two matches to warrant a place in the side for his bowling, so I don't think replacing him for another bowler (Maruma, irrespective of how good he is) is an option. This is a great win for Zimbabwe. A win in the West Indies would have been viewed as a great result when Zimbabwean cricket was at its peak 10 or so years ago. It is good that the team is learning how to win the close matches and not caving in under pressure.
I don't think any changes are needed to the side. Why change a winning line-up. Once we lose let's start talking about changes.
