malcolm waller is certainly one to look out for, in the form of his life right now and extremely unlucky not to be given a decent run in the national side. unbelievable how blignaut is picked ahead of him when he has not played for 5 years except the 20/20 last month- even in that he only scored 10 more runs than waller with one more innings. even ervine hasnt scored more than him in the last 3 months and hes been out of the country playing in ireland the last 4 years. it is all so wrong. what are they trying to tell the young lads who have stuck it out? hopefully malcolm will continue to prove the selectors wrong

I strongly believe that Malcolm Waller and Sean Williams will be two rocks for the side when we return to the test arena. He's got a a solid technique, and yes he should certainly be given a longer run in the team. He did finish the season strongly, but the first three quaters of his franchise season was VERY poor. To the extent that people were questioning his place in the Rhinos side... Taken as a whole, he did not do anywhere near enough to show that he should definitely be in contention for a national team spot, and can't real feel all that hard done by. Many scored a lot more runs than him, and didn't get picked. Mutizwa, for example.pjwooldridge wrote:malcolm waller is certainly one to look out for, in the form of his life right now and extremely unlucky not to be given a decent run in the national side. unbelievable how blignaut is picked ahead of him when he has not played for 5 years except the 20/20 last month- even in that he only scored 10 more runs than waller with one more innings. even ervine hasnt scored more than him in the last 3 months and hes been out of the country playing in ireland the last 4 years. it is all so wrong. what are they trying to tell the young lads who have stuck it out? hopefully malcolm will continue to prove the selectors wrong

^^Closest to my thinking.sloandog wrote:My test team would be:
1. Hamilton Mazakadza
2. Craig Ervine
3. Sean Williams
4. Brendan Taylor
5. Tatenda Taibu (Captain/Wckt)
6. Sean Ervine
7. Elton Chigumbura
8. Andy Blignaut
9. Graeme Cremer
10. Ray Price
11. Kyle Jarvis
For the tri series I'd have the following side:
1. Hamilton Mazakadza
2. Justice Chibhaba
3. Sean Williams
4. Brendan Taylor
5. Tatenda Taibu
6. Charles Coventry
7. Elton Chigumbura
8. Andy Blignaut
9. Greg Lamb/Prosper Utsea
10. Ray Price
11. Graeme Cremer

For those guys that have Ervine, are you sure that he'll be back after the county season? He's obviously a chance but I wouldn't back my house on it....
And for those who have Blignaut, is he even bowling yet? He can't make it in all sides as a specialist no. 8....

Ya you're right in what you say Morgieb, but we have to remember that Sean Ervine has had a taste of what the new domestic structure is now like. If he hadn't have come back and got the new feel of Zimbabwean Cricket, then no, I don't think he would come back. But with the added factor that his baby brother is now playing, and Andy Blignaut and guys like Ray Price are in the side, it should be a very tempting offer since his Hampshire contract expires after this season. Lets not forger that he could well make it to the world cup in 2011 if he does return. That would be a real motivator. In regards to Andy Blignaut I don't think he'll do much bowling in this tournament, if any. His batting is a huge plus in any side since he can just rip an attack to pieces. Test, T20 or ODI matches, this man is huge for Zimbabwean Cricket. Hopefully if he sticks around he'll get the feel of bowling again.morgieb wrote:For those guys that have Ervine, are you sure that he'll be back after the county season?
