2023 WCQ | non-Zimbabwe matches
Re: 2023 WCQ | non-Zimbabwe matches
The West Indies, Netherlands and Zimbabwe have also been through some high pressure moments. They are battle ready. You would be surprised what a bit of pressure and a hostile crowd can do

What is a defendable score for Sri Lanka here? 200, or will they need more than that. Bowlers going have to be on for them today
Re: 2023 WCQ | non-Zimbabwe matches
Yeah it should be enough, unless we get into that crazy situation like crimson and jaybro mentioned where we have three teams on 8 points.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 8:25 amAm I right that we just need 1 more win, regardless of other results?sam_ahm wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 8:21 amThis tournament is f***ing crazy. We can't predict anything.
If SL lose today the ICC will shit in their pants.
You guys are way too pessimistic about Zim. If SL lose today Zimbabwe will be the only undefeated team in the tournament and I don't see any reason why they can't win two more?
But even in that case, I think Zim and SL go through because the official result Of Net-WI game was a 'Tie'.. And the first tie breaker rule is the number of wins.

SL 96/6. Man this is crazy!
Re: 2023 WCQ | non-Zimbabwe matches
They have to keep it under 200. 170 should be the max
Re: 2023 WCQ | non-Zimbabwe matches
I think people are allowed to be. We've spent many years watching Zim be in winning positions only to then mess up. The T20 WC we did well in the qualifiers and everyone was talking us up after our Pak win too. We were in a very strong position. We then just crumbled against Bangladesh and the Netherlands. We were quickly forgotten again after and it was a case from many international commentators of "oh, that's the Zim we know". So it's not unlike Zim to do these things. As comfortable as the result was in the end yesterday, Oman were at one stage looking very comfortable in the chase and I think if not for the injury to their captain, we'd have been holding our breath a bit more.
Combine this with the fact that some of our players are being carried by others (Wes and Chatara come to mind) it does allow one to have some sort of nerves. No one is doubting DH or dispelling the work that has been done and the change we are seeing, but it's natural to have nerves and feel some pressure especially when it is a side that has a reputation for it.
Was keeping an eye on this. Surely you select the guy who knows the conditions and the venues.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 8:26 am

Is anyone watching?
What’s the pitch like?
Minefield or poor batting?

Sri Lanka are really under the pump here. I bet we would be counting our chances on putting one past them if only our bowling performances were ever as consistent as they should be. Cry Chatara.

Fair enough mate, I agree. I'm very hopeful of Zimbabwe not messing it up this time though. They are genuinely looking good.zimbos_05 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 30, 2023 9:13 amI think people are allowed to be. Don't know who I want to win here. Sri Lanka for the sake of our own progression, but then again I want the Dutch to push them hard and show the ICC how bad a decision it was to reduce a world cup to just 10 teams..
