NRR is not a factor for Zimbabwe, because theirs is so bad now. For Zimbabwe it’s win or you’re out.

You're missing my point,

It's impossible for Zim to finish on a better NRR than both of the Dutch and Scots, so for Zimbabwe NRR is now irrelevant because if they lose to Scotland they're gone, NRR can't save them.

Does that make sense now?

Have you done the math? I have not, but I think Zimbabwe can LOSE to Scotland and still qualify:

ZIM has 6 points, if they lose to Scotland, they remain on 6.

SCO has 4 points, if they beat ZIM, but lose to NED, they finish on 6.

In this scenario NRR comes into play, and if SCO beats ZIM by 1 run or on the final ball of the innings, but gets trounced by NED, then ZIM's NRR will surely be higher.

NED can also theoretically qualify, but its highly unlikely and not worth getting into.

If ZIM wins, the go to 8, and qualify automatically.

I haven't done the math, but looking at the table, the Scots already have a better NRR than Zimbabwe, so a victory to the Scots in this game would only increase that margin.

If the Dutch beat both Oman and Scotland, they will finish on 6 points along with Scotland and Zimbabwe. You would think two wins would increase their NRR substantially and possibly over the top of both Scotland and Zimbabwe.

I am sure you are right and there is a mathematical possibility that Zimbabwe could lose by 1-run and somehow make it on NRR, but I'd suggest that is a very low percent chance.

Yeah its fairly straightforward...but depends on the magnitude of scores since its essentially a ratio (runs scored divided by overs batted).

I think you're basically shooting for a certain percentage margin, rather than an absolute number.

NRR is a movable beast, we saw ours shot to pieces last night.

There is most definitely a small window of some sort if Dutch beat the Scots heavy and we dont lose by alot.
