That’s that ICC shit!secretzimbo wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 8:32 pmI'm sure it was. But ECB say they had no knowledge of it until today.... Can't find any announcements or press release notes or anything about it after the 2021 ICC meetings either. Seems the ICC themselves forgot about it until this morningSuch a poorly ran sport, what a joke.

Oh wow apparently England and therefore Bangladesh are still mathematically within a shot of the semifinals. So neither team has been eliminated just yet!

Desperate attempt by the ICC to give meaning to what would have been a lot of dead rubbers and in consequential games.
There is no way it was discussed in the board meeting and yet none of the boards were aware of it.
I don't it will impact Zimbabwe much as I don't see Zim making it to Top 8 in ICC rankings in the next one year. Zim don't play enough games either for that to happen. It will however impact West Indies severely esp after the disappointment of missing out on World Cup.
Ireland and Zimbabwe won't be much bothered. We need to instead focus on the next T20 WC and whatever bilaterals come our way.

No ways they stick to those rules if England don't make it. Who would have thought England versus the Netherlands would actually be a crucial game.

Even ICC is not at this level that they change the rules after qualification is confirmed. What they might do is make it so Eng, Ind, Aus and Pak automatically qualify for the next one.

As it stands its given me something to support for the current world cup. Besides South Africa I am now hoping Afghanistan and the Netherlands pull off some miracles and finish in the top 8pillowprocter wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 9:03 amEven ICC is not at this level that they change the rules after qualification is confirmed. Now that Afghanistan have 6 points there is no way they are finishing 9th Or 10th with 6 points. Netherlands, if they beat Afghanistan they will also go up to 6, but if they lose they may well find themselves outside of Top 8.
Bangladesh are almost certain to finish outside of Top 8. I can't see them pulling off anything more than 1 win.
England are in serious danger of missing out from the CT.

Do Afghanistan have a chance of making the top 4? The got the Dutch next and I have a funny feeling that the Aussies might struggle with that legspin if the conditions are tough.

Bangladesh have Pakistan and Sri Lanka...excellent chance to pick up two wins before getting smashed by Australia.sam_ahm wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 5:40 amNow that Afghanistan have 6 points there is no way they are finishing 9th Or 10th with 6 points. AFG are in the CT already. Netherlands could make it if they upset Afghanistan or England. Afghans are still due a shocking collapse like they had vs Bangladesh...they've been batting too well.
Bangladesh can't possibly do worse than they have (or can they?)...they really need to win a couple to make it to the CT. Batting first vs Pakistan looks to be a good decision.
