Pick the right team, the right batting order, give them a couple of practices together, talk about the opposition and how to go about it and the losses will be less embarrassing.
We might even win. People may even come and watch.
If you're going to pick the folk you want to do well then call it the Wannabe XI. If wishes were horses....
The worst part is picking a foreigner for a national side, that is sad on many levels, it denigrates our sport and our flag.
There has to be pride in wearing national colours and it's supposed to be an honor and reasonably difficult to achieve. SRC should be asking them the obvious question.
We have to move on from it being a family run business, there's lots at stake here.
Nigeria and Uganda tour of zimbabwe
Re: Nigeria and Uganda tour of zimbabwe
I don't think we are getting worse. We are stagnating. 0 improvement. Other teams are catching up.
The big question on how to solve that is do you focus on recruiting 20 players and paying them really good wages and develop them or do you focus on improving the grassroots?
I think we firstly need to change our identity. Or at least define it. What are Zimbabwean batting conditions? We have everything. Maybe we can blame our ridiculously good weather but we need an identity. Focus on specific conditions. Improve there. Identify players who can play in those specific conditions. How on earth we don't produce more fast bowlers is shocking to me. I'm sure even Namibia has more.
Grassroots can work for me because I genuinely believe you can find and make a fast bowler. I saw the most ridiculously tall primary school kid when I was driving the other day. Go to those schools, identify them, show them how cricket is probably the only sport that can realistically change their lives in this country. You are wasting your time playing basketball, you will never make the NBA. ZC can do that for you.
There are so many good athletes out there. Even if they are spraying it everywhere, we need guys who can crank it up. Eventually you will find some with control. Where is Mr Jarvis?
Why I suggest this is because I believe better bowlers produce competent batsmen. I don't think our guys are bad. Had Wes played in the SA system for another 5 years where would he be? Let's ask ourselves that. The SA coaches rated him, they aren't crazy

A competent board with the amount of funding ZC has shouldn’t have to choose one or the other.
Re: Nigeria and Uganda tour of zimbabwe
Therein lies the problem.
Re: Nigeria and Uganda tour of zimbabwe
Victor chirwa just hit 31 off 13 balls to at least give rhinos something to bowl at.
Re: Nigeria and Uganda tour of zimbabwe
Are we being battered by Nigeria as well?
It's a serious question- is this not triggering massive alarm bells?
Maybe the only regret is that Takas didn't play their series against Nigeria?

I'm dreading the day Zambian farmers send a Boozers league side to wallop a franchise side

Well we won't have much funding for cricket. There's a massive Money Pit in Vic Falls that's about to take place.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2023 9:13 amA competent board with the amount of funding ZC has shouldn’t have to choose one or the other.

Our only chance perhaps is the Two Toed dudes that live up there. Maybe they have some innate cricketing skills?
