ZC’s fault they lost their mojo. Some bowling machines and a clear pathway from under 15s upwards will help them find it again.

Raza just be like: some bigger boys made me screw up, repeatedly, through the year.

Bigger boys with pointy shoes, pointier than my orange ones I got especially commissioned for the Ireland series in which you guessed it, the bigger boys made me screw up in.

No matter what the structural problems are they should have NEVER lost to Uganda. This is the point he was trying to make. It’s honestly not fair to blame anyone but the players and coaching staff who were there that day. You can’t blame anyone else but them for that. They have to take responsibility for that.

What does u9 cricket have to do with losing to Uganda who don’t have any of these structures we are talking about?

Another way of looking at it is when we for example best Pakistan at the World Cup. They might have their own issues internally but at no point did I see anybody make 1000 excuses or say Zim had a good day, pressure etc. it was just unacceptable and people were outraged. We seem to always have an excuse and that’s what puts players in a comfort zone.

The fact that these guys can go and play Scotland, Uganda or the UAE on any other day and beat them shows that those losses have nothing to do with a weak domestic league or lack of youth development. We have to call it as it is.

People going to new depths to defend the board and admin. It is bewildering.

Uganda also qualified for the u-19 WC two years ago. The notion they have no structures in place is absurd. They have been an ICC member for 25 years and cricket has played in the country for decades. Just like Zim the sport is mostly played at the junior level in the well off high schools and they also have a small number of cricket academies. Even in Nigeria the sport is now played in 100 schools and they host national u-15 and u-17 tournaments . Can ZC claim similar? I’d be surprised. In 10-15 years unless grassroots cricket is totally revamped Nigeria will almost certainly have a better cricket team

We have 6 schools playing a decent standard of cricket.

Whose fault is that?

Someone will try and blame Raza

Also Nigeria’s youth tournaments are sponsored by Price Waterhouse Cooper. ZC could only dream of such a high profile sponsor.

The one worrying thing that has emerged is that it would appear that Ervine and Williams have lost their mojo for cricket. They seem to be going through the motions and being well paid for it. Without an enthusiastic core of senior players we're in big trouble. I think it's been like that for a while actually, but the situation is infinitely more dire now.
I think they have definitely lost their mojo for their cricket. They are proud cricketers and you don't survive this long in the game without having an appetite and drive to keep improving. Injuries or not , the signs are not great.
