Match Thread: 3rd T20 Zimbabwe v Bangladesh (7th May 2024)
Re: Match Thread: 3rd T20 Zimbabwe v Bangladesh (7th May 2024)
I'm praying Matsi reads this and opens with Campbell and Raza so we can put that theory to bed. We'll be 2-2 after 2
Re: Match Thread: 3rd T20 Zimbabwe v Bangladesh (7th May 2024)
Nah, I wouldn’t open with Jono, even I find that crazy talk yo. Raza and Ponsonby is where the smart money is

Re: Match Thread: 3rd T20 Zimbabwe v Bangladesh (7th May 2024)
Raza won't make runs opening. Willing to bet my dog
Re: Match Thread: 3rd T20 Zimbabwe v Bangladesh (7th May 2024)
But nothing to lose. Hardly anyone has had experience opening at this level. Most haven't even opened at club level
Opening is a different game

Opening is a different game
Re: Match Thread: 3rd T20 Zimbabwe v Bangladesh (7th May 2024)
I'd open with Faraz and Blessing. Just as good an option

Re: Match Thread: 3rd T20 Zimbabwe v Bangladesh (7th May 2024)
So that’s sorted then:
Faraz
Blessing
Ponsonby
Williams
Raza
Bennett
Jono
Clive
Wellington
Jongwe
Ngrarava
Bats deep

I've never rated Liton Das as highly as many others or the BCB itself. The BCB has always had their favorites and it doesn't always make sense. Shanto is another one, he's even bigger than Das, because its obvious the BCB views him as the messiah and has made every effort to go out of their way to back him. Its just that I'm a Shanto fan as well, and just happen to coincidentally agree with the BCB

Now I'm not saying Liton Das is trash...he's a decent player, and an above average wicket-keeper (he's deaf and wouldn't hear an edge even if it was as loud as a jet engine), but his WK mechanics are fairly sound. But he's nothing amazing, nor world class, except perhaps in Tests. But his ODI average against top 8 sides is like low 20s. That is abysmally bad for a guy who's been playing international cricket for 9 years.

Ackermann and Mawoyo clearly have beers so his thoughts will filter down to Stu and Eric. They'll be desperate enough to try anything so we'll conceivably see a different line-up.
Saying that we've got the pieces of the jigsaw implies that if we go with his line-up we'll win. That's a stretch.
We've got nobody that can really dominate the powerplay.
We've got nobody that can survive the powerplay.

Did you watch Sunrisers yesterday? 167-0 in 10 overs

Head and Abhishek have forever changed batting. Mcgurk is not far behind.

Would not mind Raza at number 3 or Burl. Give them some licence in power play.
