While Afghanistan are now probably a top 5-6 ODI unit, this is still a sorry performance. I'm worried that Ervine and Williams are done. At their age it is hard to know if they are just out of form or too old. They certainly need some scores of note soon, otherwise we may as well blood new talent now.
Yeah but Ervine and Williams are still considerably younger than the Afghan players. Rashid Khan is listed as 26 but I've heard back home even his son has become a grandfather, so you know he's at least 50. Mohammad Nabi played in the country's first ODI back in 2009 and assuming he was 35-36 back then would mean he too is well north of 50.

People's bottom lines are not affected by the results. That's why you don't really see that fight in them in a lot of games. It's going to be a tough 3 weeks. 1 token victory here and there is enough I guess.

As I said before what is the point of playing Ervine and Williams if the end result is still humiliation? You are better off using the big 3's salary space to import the likes of Higgins and Byrom. You can even dream bigger and try pay top dollar for Tom Curran. Welch and co will also get to play once they are gone. It's the logical thing to do without using emotions here. You can then genuinely tell the world you are rebuilding.
Tom Curran is a seriously overrated player. He's literally stolen a career. Higgins is better.

Byrom is a perfect example of what I was saying- he comes here and does very averagely in domestic and yet he can absolutely play at this level.

Would you be comfortable with them playing in the next u19 WC?

There's a lot going on on social media. What kills me is so many black guys say- we have to give up cricket, we must be banned by ICC etc etc
Err no...just let competent people drive the bus.

Ya, that and these boycotts  zcsu on the payroll so there’ll always be someone there. ZC losing the odd $3 in gate receipts won’t bother them. With all the OAP and school uniform hustles I doubt they make very much on the gates tbh.

He might be struggling a bit right now but Gumbie was missed yesterday. He has a unique skillset which is critical for situations like yesterday's or even if we go back to that Scotland game. You just feel like if he survives 10 overs in a situation as tough as those 2 games, we have a different outcome
