One of the best interviews Piers has ever done. Fantastic and so true.

Tucker will really love Kabul then as well! I've heard they've got less wokeness there than Budapest or Houston!

Such a shame. He could add a lot of value to the side with the bat

Especially considering how upbeat he looked in that interview with Larry. He didn't do too badly in our domestic either. Remember him averaging something like 50 in the Pro50. Would've been an handful for that Eng Test though
Re: Ryan Higgins Turned Down Zimbabwe Approach
Not dead in the water at all. It was never going to be a case of him representing Zimbabwe straight away. He will finish the season with Middlesex and then make a decision. This winter was a fact finding mission for him, he is still under contract anyway.
Re: Ryan Higgins Turned Down Zimbabwe Approach
After getting a reminder of how good these county sides are I think ZC should consider that unlike Ben and Welch Sr, he has serious county experience. At 30 he is experienced and would be a good starting point when Raza, Williams, Ervine and the 3rd coming of BT retire. Probably all at once in 2027.
His addition would also allow us to finally have an identity. I can see it being advantageous to prepare a seam friendly track every time if we have an attack with Blessing, Richie, Matigimu, Newman and Higgins. We need to move away from preparing wickets that neutralise the opposition to preparing what suits us if we ever want to be a serious team.
From his point of view I think international cricket would be a good challenge. There are lots of T20 leagues out there as well to supplement your income once you establish yourself. Basically you can get a contract if you have a good tour of Sri Lanka or Bangladesh for example. Test cricket seems to be paying well these days too with the ICC fund. I'm not 100% sure if they have started paying yet but it's good money. There are opportunities

Re: Ryan Higgins Turned Down Zimbabwe Approach
For someone like Higgins who's never represented any Zim team to show an interest in playing for us and for ZC to fumble it is very silly. Higgins is a better investment than a 40 year old BT!
Re: Ryan Higgins Turned Down Zimbabwe Approach
In a normal setup, with common sense, a small cricketing nation with a decent budget and talent shortage would be all over an international quality player willing to move around the world to represent them in a slot they have no competition for.therealbigdeal wrote: ↑Tue Mar 25, 2025 4:52 amFor someone like Higgins who's never represented any Zim team to show an interest in playing for us and for ZC to fumble it is very silly. However we are not in a normal setup, they push back for reasons somewhere between his race and to not make Innocent Kaia or Chari jealous.

Then bend over backwards to accommodate 50 year old BT out of sheer desperation of not qualifying again
