Re: The harsh reality
Yeah Googly thanks for your insight its just that fans are always optimistic and sometimes ignore the bare facts and stark reality because its just better not to get an insight on whats really on the ground and the state of Zimbabwe cricket. I feel though with better management and more first class we do have players who can make the grade, not Kholi type talents but players way above Sammy type talent.

Really? Did you see how easily Sammy smashed it around in the tests?bayhaus wrote: players way above Sammy type talent.
Re: The harsh reality
Sammy is like Curtly Ambrose and Chris Gayle rolled into one.
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes

What's the standard like at school level ? Are these kids simply not good enoughGoogly wrote:I'm no whistle blower, Bud. Just really depressed that the game I love is in the hands of incompetent, corrupt, untouchable people. There's no way out of this mess. People also think there's a bunch of good players around and with proper management we can sort this out. That is simply not the case, we don't have the players anymore, especially front line batsmen, at any age group. There are less than 5 real quality batters left between the ages of 13 -19. I've watched a lot of schoolboy cricket. I said once before on this forum,it takes years to mould a top batter who can doggedly compile a big innings (and do it often). We've let everything slide too far.

No we have some brilliant boys. If they were in another country they would be in academies and have huge opportunities. Check out the posts on Next generation
