Zim Afro T10
Re: Zim Afro T10
Any scorecards?
Who's the new Tuskers manager, or has Singo been quietly reinstated?

In the Bulawayo section on ZC app. Mostly Tuskers reserves/club cricketers.

The system is crying for a 6th franchise.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 6:10 pmBy my count there are about 24 non-black, Zim-qualified players potentially vying for playing time this season, not including PJ, Byrom and any overseas.
Faraz Akram, Sikandar Raza, Ali Hamid, Ali Aqil (?), Ronak Patel (?), Antum Naqvi, Awad Naqvi (?), Craig Ervine, Sean Williams, Ryan Burl, Brad Evans, Benjamin Banks (?), Johnathan Campbell, Matthew Campbell (?), Brandon James, Alistair Frost, Michael Frost (?), Jayden Schadendorf, Dane Schadendorf (?), Ben Curran, Nick Welch, Matt Welch, Gary Ballance (?), Brian Bennett
C'mon Mr Smith from SOGO. You could sogolize every other franchise this season. Gotta be worth something. It would surely force a couple of other companies to sponsor teams.
The system needs a shape up. We've seen it in NPL, same squad will comfortably win every comp.
Re: Zim Afro T10
A SOGO Rhodesians NPL side is totally different from a SOGO Rhodesians franchise.
A clean sweep of the Logan Cup, T20 and Pro50 would sogolize ZC itself and destroy cricket forever
I’m not convinced. A sixth franchise is viable, a franchise for murungus with a token black guy is sketchy though.

Re: Zim Afro T10
I guess if you put it like that it wouldn't be in ZC's interests, but it would certainly benefit cricket. Sad that those interests don't always align.
Although an independently financed 6th franchise would add a lot of interest and would not be any strain on ZC's resources, already stretched beyond breaking point with 2 stadiums and some indoors to build.
I just don't see the franchises making spots for most of these guys plus the overseas ones. Basson deserves a shot at franchise cricket as well.
Rangers won with a seriously depleted squad as well, missing Maru, Deon, NW, Jonno C and Macheka for most of the games and had to call on 3 youngsters, and 2 older part timers.
A full strength Rangers side would take on the Best of the Rest and it would be close, in any format.
Assume T20
Overlord, TK, Wes, Knackers, Raza, Taku K, Clive, Faraz, Wellie, Blessing, Richie
Vs
Jayden, NW, Williams, MW, Deon, Maru, Burl, Jonno, Evans, Banks, Macheka.
That would be a good 5 match series I'd love to watch.

I think my money would still be on The Rest with those lineups, but it would be competitive. And would be really good cricket!

Re: Zim Afro T10
I think it’s viable, but only if ZC ensure that franchise fixtures aren’t scheduled whilst the national team are away. Otherwise the quality drops too much.
When the national team are playing - that’s when they should have the provincial club leagues. Keep franchise fixtures for when everyone is around. Then a 6th side is viable
Re: Zim Afro T10
I dunno. Apart from Raza and Antum the Rangers batting line up is definitely stronger, but The Rest maybe have a stronger bowling line-up with Blessing and Richie. I'd be putting a tenner on Rangers on a good decksecretzimbo wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2024 10:10 pmI think my money would still be on The Rest with those lineups, but it would be competitive. Were players paid much to play for the rangers?Googly wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2024 6:38 pmThe system is crying for a 6th franchise.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 6:10 pmBy my count there are about 24 non-black, Zim-qualified players potentially vying for playing time this season, not including PJ, Byrom and any overseas.
