PSR. Harrison’s family moved down to Cape Town years ago. Victims of the land grab, they’re a fantastic family and a big loss to this country. Taun was a tiny chap, with a big heart, he’s always bowled immaculate line and length and flight from a young age. He didn’t grow and was diagnosed with a growth deficiency and was put on HGH and has caught up. He went to SACS in Cape Town and is proof of what our boys can do in a better environment because he excelled at schoolboy level and was picked for provincial sides. When he was here he probably wasn’t the best offie in his age group, but having played in a more competitive environment he’s left those guys far behind.

Was also impressed with Taun Harrison..has a lovely action with good flight and guile. Googly can u shed some light on him? Would be grateful

Statistically, Taun Harrison has been decent with the ball, appears to be the bowler the team will most rely on. Mazhawidza, Madhevere and Connolly average, but can provide decent support with the ball. Tinotenda Jakachira and Declan Oldreive(not selected) had the odd good game with the ball though.

Liam Roche is in form so far this year, just a few games, but was terrible last year. So it could be argued that Schadendorff could be the star player and have more potential as an allround package. Strangely underustilised.

Greg Dollar seems overrated. But is it/will it be the case with Shumba and Myers?

Rest would have to be a surprise.

On the face of it, it appears the team is wafer thin. If Mangongo acheieves anything with them the Queen should unilaterally restore ZIM to the Commonwealth and bestow him(and Boycott ) a Knighthood.

Anyway, I'm going off stats that I half-looked at.

If he'd got a third game on that pitch he'd have loved it, possibly torn through my NZ U19 side. Most of the NZ kids not exactly being deft touch players these days, more McCullum/Munro aspirants.

A shame he'll only get one more spell on Bay Oval on this tour (Jan 19 against India), because that ground is known in NZ for more turn and stumpings etc. than where Zim U19 are now heading. Slower clays and less bounce in the South Island though, which might give a boost to Zim's batting averages.

Yeah his front foot lurching out towards cover and then cutting across his defensive shots obviously won't be ideal as he goes up the levels. On the plus side, the ability and strength to hit aerially and clear an infield, putting your own pace onto a 120kph ball, has always really helped guys to become the dominat scorer in their U19 team. Daniel Bell-Drummond for England did a lot of that when he was U19 and dominant.
