What brilliant performance by Raza, are these the best figures by a Zimbabwean in a test match?

Pretty sure Strang took a few 7fers and maybe even cremer once.
I also think Eddo once got an 8fer.

I could be talking rubbish though as it’s memory I’m speaking from

113 run lead, that's still really great. I'm astonished that we bowled them out so cheaply with this attack, take a bow Sikandar Raza.

So what do we need in the third innings?

If we scrape our way to 100, that sets up an interesting little 4th innings chase albeit not a really troubling one.
If we scrape our way to 200, then sets up a challenging 4th innings chase but still not one I'd be really comfortable winning with.

275 is our magic number I think. I think we'd defend 390 odd - I don't think we'd repeat the mistakes of 2017.

One big problem though - Williams isn't batting?
Does anyone know the rule? Given he didn't field does that mean he'd be batting at 11?
I think you’re largely right and in normal circumstances for sure.
But I’d still be worried at anything under a 400 lead. Kite attack is soft as.
We can’t expect Raza to do his thang again. Lightning isn’t strike twice. Will need a big effort by the others.
360 lead for me is 50/50. 400 is the magic 90/10 I want.
Anything In between is a sliding scale between those figures.

Excellent performance from Zimbabwe. No surprise to me whatsoever that we got a first innings lead. Even India would struggle abit, all set up by a good batting performance anchored by a very good RUN RATE. This should give us enough time to bowl Sri Lanka out. I believe 280 is more than enough to win, if we score 200 by lunch tomorrow we should be able to win.

Really impressive from Zimbabwe I’m sure we’ll be fine

Obviously we are batting for a declaration

Maruma in :(
Has any batsman with an average of 10 ever had so many chances?
I'd have given Mudzi another chance even though he was so far out of his depth in the last game. More upside at least.

Nobody knows the rule about Williams?
That could leave us in an almighty bind if he can't bat until number 11.

That's true, if there's one silver lining though - Raza was getting a few of those balls to turn square. So maybe in the fourth innings even Mutumbodzi will be troubling to face.

Yeah if we retain enough wickets to still have two of our top 7 in still at lunch, we should win.
Even accounting for the fact we always lose a wicket after a session break. When a batsman needs to reset his mindset.

Mutombodzi not really a turner. More a pitch up type of nigga.i really don’t understand how he gets them domestically. He is similar to how he was a few years ago but with a little less pizzazz and accuracy.

I am willing to admit here that I see what people meant about not scoring runs affecting you if wickets start tumbling. Sri Lanka fell into that trap today

Williams can bat after the time spent off the field has lapsed in Zimbabwe’s batting innings. That’s what the law dictates
