Is this the same squad for the matches against W Indies 'A'

T20 specialist EWING has really missed out, maybe he is injured as he retired hurt in the recent Logun Cup Match, Mpariwa missed out too as we have only 3 seamers, if i had to drop a player, i would drop a spinner, Maruma.The positive note is that the squad is slowly changing, Ervine deserved his chance, Blignuat bonus, Chibhabha maybe, Good luck Zim, better effort this time around.

What has Ewing done to be a T20 specialist, f you look at his performance in the reason deomestic competition he only made one score with the bat out of 6 innings which is not good enough if he wants to be contending for the national side.In contrast Chibabha was the second highest run getter in the Domestic T20 comp and therfore deserves his place.

Not a bad sqaud but would of left Maurma out and not sure if Craig Ervine is best suited to T20 and would rather of seen him make his debut in the upcoming tri series in May/June. It was probably a choice between ervine and Sean Williams for the one place and with ervine being in better form he probably just won out.

Do think that the likes of Greg Strydom and Forster Mutiwa are a touch unlucky to of missed out but its good to see that the selecters have such a big pool to pick from.

Hopefully Bliganut can return to his bowling form of former days as i dont see Mpofu getting a game.

On the basis of the four day game im glad to see that Chitara was taken as will be good experiance for him and will give him an oppotunity to work with Heath Streak.

My side for the 4 day game would be

Williams really struggled in the domestic T20. I know he got a few runs, but he didn't seem to have the range or power of shot required for the shortest form, and having watched him perform, I can't see how his selection a national T20 side could be justified. He's still a decent player, but I think he is more suited to the longer forms.

NON-PERFOMING senior players have been spared the axe in Zimbabwe’s squad for the ICC World Twenty20 in the West Indies at the end of next month. Only Stuart Matsikenyeri paid the price for the team’s disappointing 4-1 series defeat in the West Indies by being left out of the 15-man team that was picked this week.


The squad remains largely unchanged, but the big news is the inclusion of explosive all-rounder Andy Blignaut, who completes a return to international cricket for the third time in his career.


The only new face is the uncapped batsman Craig Ervine, the talented younger brother of Hampshire’s Sean Ervine, who himself is targeting a return to the Zimbabwe team at the expiry of his Kolpak contract in the UK.


Twenty four-year-old left-hander Craig — a former Zimbabwe amateur golfer — has represented Zimbabwe Under 19s, Zimbabwe “A”, Midlands and now Southern Rocks.


Opening batsman Chamu Chibhabha returns to the team after impressing in Zimbabwe’s domestic Twenty20 competition in which he was second highest run-scorer.


Blignaut, Ervine and Chibhabha come in at the expense of Matsikenyeri, Shingi Masakadza and the injured Kyle Jarvis.


The 15-man squad will travel to the Caribbean with an additional player in Manicaland Mountaineers’ teenage pace sensation Tendai Chatara. The promising right-armer from Dangamvura, who opened the bowling for Zimbabwe at the Under 19 World Cup in New Zealand in January, will only play in a warm-up match against West Indies “A” starting on April 16 before flying back home.


Zimbabwe will be under new coach Alan Butcher, a former England international, for the first time.

I'm really disapointed with some of the selections. Why is Greg Lamb in the squad. Surely it has to be for his bowling. His batting is weak, and techniquely he's flawed. I don't want to criticise him too much because he's got enough talent to work with. If the lad plays, he sould bat no higher than 9. I'll put it bluntly

To be fair to him, his bowling was excellent in the West Indies. Yes his batting was disappointing considering how many runs he's got in the domestic season, but is anyone else who could play one day cricket as a frontline bowler a better batsman?

Masakadza opening with Blignaut for mine.
Chigumbura at no 3

Hope Sibanda doesn't get anywhere near that top order.

Unfortunately, Lange, if Sibanda does play which I assure you he will, he can only bat up the order because he's hopeless against spin.

I would hope that the batting line-up is flexible. I think if a wicket falls with 10 or less overs to go Chigumbura/Blignaut should be the next batsman in regardless of who has yet to bat. This will give Zim the best chance of using their explosive batting tactics to the full.
