Re: [Match Thread] Zimbabwe v Sri Lanka (Tri Series 3rd Matc
I think that is a pretty old update from cricinfo - I was watching it live online @ 10:50am (local time) which was after that cricinfo update and Tony Greg came over the microphone and said that there sould be some play today as the rain has stopped. If you look at the live feed online you can see players and groundsmen on the pitch, covers are off and it aint rainingDr_Situ(ZimFanatic) wrote:Some more updates that came a short while back. Umpire Russel Tiffin: "We plan to inspect at 12.30 (local time) and if we cannot start then we will have to abandon the game." Groundsman Douglas Higgins said the outfield is holding up and would be playable if the rain did not continue for long. So, just over a couple of hours of time, there is still hope for this game. Fingers crossed.[cricinfo]
My friends at the ground have already left for Hre.

Hurray! The rain has stopped, and the covers are off! If there is no more rain, and the skies do seem to have cleared, we are looking at a 1PM start, for a 27-over match. This is what Tony Greig reckons, on air. There are some wet puddles in the outfield, and there is a chance that the ropes will be pulled in, depending on how the captains decide to go forward. Stay tuned for more - the start is still a 110 minutes away.

11:18am Sriharsha: "Is there a reserve day, if at all the match gets abandoned? Or the points would be shared?" The latter. No reserve days have been allotted for these games, and if it is washed out today, SL and Zim will share the spoils, two points each.
Cricinfo
In terms of Zimbabwe continuing in the series, a wash out would only help our cause and spoil the Sr Lankan's chances of winning.

Shortened game also works in our favour. Heading for Harare with 8 points on the board would be outstanding.sloandog wrote:In terms of Zimbabwe continuing in the series, a wash out would only help our cause and spoil the Sr Lankan's chances of winning.

Agreed. It'd be great if we could win this series. It'd silence any critics of Zimbabwean Cricket for good !maehara wrote:Shortened game also works in our favour. Just been looking at some stats: Ray Price has an economy rate of 3.88 from 75 ODIs and against Sri Lanka his economy rate gets even better: just 3.36 from seven games – excellent.

Ya but in the last match he looked very "un-economical". He cant just rely on pushing the ball through against the bigger sides. He needs to try and spin the ball and use his flight, and that's something he failed to do in the last match against India. Hoping for a better show from our senior player todaychirundu wrote:Just been looking at some stats: Ray Price has an economy rate of 3.88 from 75 ODIs and against Sri Lanka his economy rate gets even better: just 3.36 from seven games – excellent.
