Secondly, why isn’t betting (and the revenue it brings) legally incorporated into the game of cricket. Hear me out, English football had an underworld matchfixing problem..they tried to fight it, stings, raids arrests. Until they decided to formalise it. Betting companies get to be among the club’s sponsors, and get revenue regardless of outcomes. Several English Football League clubs have betting companies logos on thier jerseys. I don’t know entirely how it works, or if it’s perfect but wouldn’t this be better than expecting flawed humans to be incorruptible??
Pretty sure you can bet on cricket games. The issue here is match fixing. It's essentially a business in the sub continent. So its a different kettle of fish to betting.
Don't know what to say, this is just sad. Brendan has behaved very immaturely here. Who calls a player to discuss T20 tournament mate? How can BT even believe it? If any businessman wants to have a T20 tournament they will contact the cricket board, not just one player.
BT probably knew it will that there is something fishy but still went for it, which is terribly stupid.
He also says 'late october' and says there was uncertainty over Zimbabwe playing international cricket again. It was on 14th October when ICC lifted the suspension on ZC so by late October things were actually looking good.
People make mistakes, BT has done it too and i think he deserves a second chance. Will remain one of my favt cricketers ever. I hope youngsters learn from this and don't fall for such stuff. Hope BT recovers well.
BTW who remembers when 5+ years ago when I used to talk all the time about match fixing could be a real issue in Zim and everyone thought i was an idiot

Come to think about it.. how often do cricket players do drug tests?
good question.
but it wouldnt catch them out doing coke anyway. thats why coke is the drug of choice among athletes. Doesnt have the physical side effects of alcohol and is out of the system in hours.
All the players are on coke.

Regularly at world cups/ICC events. Maybe in the big franchise leagues too. Other times, e.g. bilateral series or in training or domestic, they are extremely rare. Usually only conducted in response to information/tip offs.

Detectable on modern tests for about 2-3 days I believe.
I don’t get the best get the hoopla a over sniffing lines of coccaine. If the video had been released, it would have trended for a week tops. Drug use is ubiquitous among certain social circles. To me, the only way the blackmail makes sense, is if there were hookers involved
