Ervine really needs to prove he is more than just a flash in the pan and can be a consistent performer. He has started the season poorly although he has done okay over the last few months. Ervine has the potential to be as good a player as his brother

If he gets another 2 later in this match, then yes that might be taken as a worrying sign - but one innings, good or bad, proves nothing either way.

i only said he had had a poor start to the domestic season and that the pressure will be on him. i do not think that was the wrongest comment to make. pressure on him to live up to the potential really.

Lets not convert this into another Matsi Vs Ervine thread.

I was privileged enough to be amongst the select audience for an inspirational speech by Anil Kumble a couple of years ago (soon after his retirement), where he talked about "Sustained Excellence". During this lecture, he said that for the frenzied media, and for the fanatic followers of the game, one success is greatness, and one failure is disaster. Emotions fluctuate so much. But for a player, who endures being away from home for most of the year, being on the road for most of the tours, it is a sacrifice they do to fulfill their ambition of playing for the nation. And they consider it a success if they have a remarkable season, filled with a lot of highs, and very few lows, whereas being dropped from the team, which indicates continued lack of form, is what they consider as failure. He went on to talk about how he handled his failures and successes, etc.

The point here is, it would be wrong to even say that "Ervine (or anyone for that matter) had a rubbish / poor start to the season", based on one innings. "He just failed to do well in his first outing of the domestic season". These two statements have completely different meanings.

I am most looking forward to seeing how Sean Williams, Kyle Jarvis, and Craig Ervine fare. I think all three players will prove they belong in the national side, although Ervine does have to overcome his allegedly disastrous start to the season. I am also following how Steve Marillier does, I was a big fan of Doug Marillier and want to see how much talent runs in the family.

Keegan meth ...... has to be given a few cracks in some ODI's and T20's this summer , he has played a handful of ODI's , even though he did not make much impression he still belted a 50 and was only 19 when he debuted.Since then has grown and stocked up as well as improving his cricket. he could be the nxt blignaut for us ,one that actually can fullfil his career

my top 5 would be

1. Kyle Jarvis:has so much potential with raw pace and a muscley build could be the future.
2.T.Chetara:young cricketer of the year , has good pace and bowls a great outswinger , Jarvis and him could be a nasty opening bowling pair.
3.C.Ervine:Has the most talent out of anyone in the country with the bat and if he keeps his consistency going out first class level could prove to be the solid rock we need at test level
4.K.Meth:i gotta agree with sloandog on this one. He needs to be in our ODI and T20 teams because he can bowl sharp pace with movement yet he can smash a ball around the park, he has the world of ability and campbell needs to put him in the national set up especially at the age of 22 he could be a dangerous lower order player with the likes of Bligz, chigumbura,Coventry changing a game with both bat and ball.He is one of my favourites and so talented.
5R. Chakabva:He is a real match winner and i believe is the best option behind taibu, if he scores runs consistenly and keeps well will be a real headache for the selectors , i believe could be a our T20 keeper because of his ability to rotate the strike yet belt runs when needed.

Others to watch are S.Masakadza,M.Waller,S.Williams,S.Marilliar,T.Maruma,Mushangwe and Pynangra

Ervine has the potential to be as good a player as his brother (let's hope he does not do the same Judas turn if he does achieve such heights). I just hope he realises that potential. Too many people here think he has already.

PEOPLE HERE FORGET THAT PRIOR TO HIS DEBUT Craig Ervine never really set the world on fire.

Alot of peeps six months ago felt that he was only making his debut to lure big brother Sean back to the country.

Dont get me wrong, the guys a talent. But in ZCF style people are hyping him up to be the focus of the next installment in the Bible.

Hes still a work in progress. Not yet cooked.

Also for those thinking that Panyangara is goig to be setting the world on fire i believe you will be severely disappointed. I dont think he will even make the national team. Hes been out too long.....and tbh was never the real thing anyway. Just capable of doing some good things.
