This is my side by side of the Ireland squad and my predicted squad (now including ballance) comparing who I think wins the battle (in bold). This is for the one dayers
Kaia / Sterling
Ervine / Balbirnie
Ballance /Tector
Williams / mcbrine
Madhevere / Delaney
Raza / Campher
Burl / Dockrell
Madande / Tucker
Evans / Adair
Chatara / little
Muzarabani / McCarthy
Not exact batting positions but kind of shows a like for like. We win 6/11 which shows that the Irish have a pretty decent squad, their bowling is slightly stronger, whereas we have thre edge with the bat. Although Tector is something special and if their top 3 fire we will be chasing high totals.

^ Marumani has to play ODIs and T20s if fit (not sure how bad this injury is).
Also I don’t think Chatara is fit. Ngarava will surely play

Re: Ireland Tour - Discussion
Ngarava over Chatara for me.
Re: Ireland Tour - Discussion
I realised that I dropped the wrong player for ballance when I posted it. I would drop Burl then from the ODI squad to fit him in.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Mon Dec 19, 2022 8:24 am^ Marumani has to play ODIs and T20s if fit (not sure how bad this injury is).

Marumani is currently injured though but hopefully it’s nothing serious, they never bloody tell us!
If Chatara is not fit then Ngarava although I’m still not 100% sure of him in the one day 11 just yet.
Re: Ireland Tour - Discussion
If Ballance gets in then we have to see whom to drop. It will be tough and I hope they don't drop Burl. I'll take Ballance in place of Chakabwa and ask Marumani to keep.
Marumani
Madhevere
Ervine
Ballance
Williams
Raza
Burl
Evans
Ngarava
Muzarabani
Chatara
The other option is to drop Chatara and play Madande as a WKB Or Kaia as an extra batter.

Probably okay to ask Marumani to keep in the T20's, just about. Probably not wise in ODIs.

ODI:
1 Kaia
2 Marumani
3 Ervine (C)
4 Ballance
5 Williams
6 Raza
7 Madande (Wk)
8 Evans
9 Masakadza
10 Ngarava
11 Muzarabani
Very happy with the above, that looks rather strong. Harsh on Madhevere but where does he fit?
T20I:
1 Marumani (Wk)
2 Madhevere
3 Ballance
4 Burl
5 Raza (C)
6 Shumba
7 Munyonga
8 ?
9 Evans
10 Ngarava
11 Muzarabani
Hard to pick a T20 XI. Part of me thinks we need to slowly transition to being without Ervine and Williams sometimes, and this is the format to do it in. Also is Ballance a good T20 player? No idea. Who plays at 8? A spinner or another pacer? Difficult.
Also heard some suggestions that Raza will be resting from the T20's this series?

ODI looks strong, don’t see what Masakadza adds though that Madhevere doesn’t. I think Masakadza is just been selected because he is the only spinner good enough. I would rather see him in the t20s than the one dayers. The allrounders cover the spin.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Mon Dec 19, 2022 11:24 amODI:

Can’t believe you have also been converted into Marumani keeping I think it would be an embarrassment to international cricket if he is given the gloves (without an injury mid game) I have never seen an international side start a part time keeper. I’d rather have a keeper batting at 9/10 than someone who can’t keep. It’s also harsh on Madande who can actually bat.
For the last few years Uganda have kept wicket with big Freddy, who would struggle to get in most club sides with the bat, but they play him because he is excellent with the gloves. Extreme scenario but even the affiliate sides refuse to give a part timer the gloves.
We want the big teams to take us seriously, if they saw Marumani keeping then they would just laugh at us. I know I’m very critical but without drastic improvement Marumani is not a keeper. Evidence is all over YouTube.

Did you hear this from Rajput? It does make sense as he has played a lot of cricket recentlysecretzimbo wrote: ↑Mon Dec 19, 2022 11:24 am

Haha don't worry, I wouldn't let him anywhere near the gloves in ODI or Test cricket and I am still pretty annoyed that he is being burdened with keeping in the Logan Cup. But....can probably get away with it in the T20's? Allows us to play an extra batter or an extra bowler which is handy. We are just so short of alternative keepers and Madande looks more suited to longer formats so far.CalZim wrote: ↑Mon Dec 19, 2022 12:06 pmODI looks strong, don’t see what Masakadza adds though that Madhevere doesn’t. Maybe Regis will surprise us and turn up, although he's been drastically bad in T20's anyway.
Other than that it is Mutumbami!
