I don't know hey. I just feel like Houghton is not the type of coach to hide a player at number 8 so that we have a proper keeper. Got a feeling either Madande will be thrown into the deep end and made to bat in the top 7 or they will open with Mutumbami and Marumani. DH is the kind of coach who will make you believe you are better than you actually are. Kaia might be the guy who gets dropped. I doubt they drop Wes under any circumstances.

If Stirling isn't playing the T20s then why would go full strength? We need to try out some new guys. The ODI are probably where we will see a full strength team.

My thoughts at this point

ODI
1. T.Marumani
2. G.Ballance
3. C.Ervine c
4. S.Williams
5. S.Raza
6. W.Madhevere
7. R.Chakabva wk
8. R.Burl
9. B.Evans
10. R.Ngarava
11. B.Muzarabani

12. I.Kaia
13. L.Jongwe
14. B.Mavuta
15. T.Chatara

T20i

1. T.Marumani wk
2. G.Ballance
3. W.Madhevere
4. S.Williams
5. S.Raza c
6. R.Burl
7. W.Mashinge
8. T.Musekiwa
9. B.Evans
10. R.Ngarava
11. B.Muzarabani

12. T.Munyonga
13. L.Jongwe
14. B.Mavuta
15. T.Chatara

If they want to experiment for the T20i's and rest the likes of Raza & Williams that's fine for this series, although if they're moving on from Ervine & Regis (which we all presume) then also moving out the other two most experienced guys might be a bit too much of a leap.

The Irish have come out and said they issued NOCs to Tucker, Stirling and Little to play in the T20 leagues instead of the ODIs. I would be surprised if ZC don't do the same for Blessing and Raza too. The BPL starts early January too. Its going to be interesting what they do because Burl and Williams are also in the mix there.

I would rather they mix it up. Some miss the ODIs, some miss the T20s. Or maybe they will go for a new look T20 team. I don't get why this series has to be that important. Its a perfect opportunity to try new people. Add Ballance in there now and we could be OK if we mix it up.

For example if they say Burl and Blessing miss the whole thing but Raza misses the ODIs and Williams the T20s

ODIs

Kaia
Marumani
Ballance
Ervine
Williams
Wes
Madande (wk)
Evans
Wellington
Ngarava
Nyauchi

T20s

Wes
Marumani
Ervine
Ballance
Munyonga
Raza
Mutumbami(wk)
Jongwe
Evans
Wellington
Ngarava

I don't see why these teams wouldn't be decent. Let's give others a chance. We need a strong bench.

Williams Raza and Burl are also going to play in the Nepal T20 league which runs from tomorrow until just before the Ireland tour starts. Let these guys make their money. This Ireland tour is not that important. The West Indies tests is where everybody must pitch up

I’ll be selfish and say I want to see these guys pitch up for Zimbabwe rather than these meaningless t20 tournaments

Zimbabwe doesn’t have the depth or quality to let 4-5 players miss these two series and still win. Winning is very important, despite what many people think that money is the most important thing.

I would echo the sentiment. Losing the series or getting swept 0-3 vs Ireland in any format will not look good. Guys like Williams and Raza make plenty of money from ZC. These series aren't that long, so they wouldn't even miss that much of their franchise leagues.

The Irish don't seem to care if they letting 3 of their best players miss the ODIs

Let the lads make some coin imo. No one really cares about playing Ireland. Especially the older guys like Williams and Raza, they need their savings for their upcoming retirements. Can’t begrudge them after their years of service.

They probably should. The Irish have passed them on the rankings table and in performance on the biggest stage over the last 10-15 years.

Whether they should or shouldn’t, they don’t.
