Any update on the weather guys . Today being off I was really hoping to follow the entire game and was pretty excited about it . Also I hope zimbabwe bats first today . I still believe ireland were a bit better side the other day . We just got lucky with the toss and were in with a massive advantage. Still ireland took it to the last ball. Batting first would really tell where we stand

I've always disliked the Afghanistan side. A sense of arrogance and cocky attitude.

I used to seriously dislike the Irish, too. There seemed a bitterness towards us for our full member status. But things seem to have cooled slightly since. There seemed to be a lot of harmony after the T20 series and that first ODI.

I remember William Portesfield being incredibly disrespectful in a post match interview when the Irish had lost, saying Zimbabwe got lucky and and they were and always will be better than them. Jog on mate.

The Afghanistani's have taken that mantra now
Pretty much my thoughts too. Zimbabwe were isolated by top member nations as well as nations like Afghanistan, Ireland and others. They only played Zimbabwe when they needed to and took advantage. That's why I often don't have any sympathy for any of them, I just want Zimbabwe to keep winning and bloody give them back. I like the Irish as a team, they are a good side, but honestly they cared less about Zim and never liked Zimbabwe's full member status.

The only two nations who have constantly helped Zimbabwe and had genuinely good relations were Pakistan and Bangladesh. Ramiz Raja spoiled that a bit but now he is out.

I agree with your sentiments about Afghanistan Zimbo_05, but I’m just looking at schedules, who’s available and who’s likely to come.

Afghanistan would also provide a really good test for Zimbabwe in preparation for the CWCQ, even if Rashid can’t be arsed coming over, Afghanistan should look at a series like this as a chance to blood new talent if they think they’re good to play Zimbabwe.

I’d love to see Zimbabwe play Namibia more often, but although they are a much improved side and would challenge Zimbabwe, I’d rather play better opposition in preparation.

As I’ve said many times before, the best way to improve is to play against better opposition, and for preparation for the CWCQ it would be greatly beneficial for Zimbabwe.
There's so many other sides we could look towards, even if it is their B team. Like sam_ahm said, we seem to have good relations with Pakistan. Can ask them about a B side tour. Surely their B side would have some serious talent and heat, be challenging enough.

West Indies are due to play a ODI and T20 series in March after they play us in and SA in tests. Feel like we could ask the WI if they want to play some warm up games in Zim with their ODI and T20 teams. Unofficial matches.

With Afghanistan, players like Rashid Khan don't even think that high of us that he probably wouldn't even travel, so what would be the point if their player have this attitude towards us.

We need to remember that we have been at this for longer and need to be performing at a higher level. Constantly running to Afghanistan just legitimises them as a side we think are better than us and want to play regularly for that reason. It also tells them that other sides don't want to play us, and they don't mind because they are happy for their players to just be T20 merchants.

I think SZ said that they've got games planned against Namibia sometime in April. I think ZC will do something to get a few more games scheduled before the Qualifiers anyways...

Fancode mentions Zimbabwe win the toss and elect to field.

Yeah not sure Pakistan B playing in Zimbabwe would be the best preparation, plus they cancelled on Zimbabwe as well recently. Also do we really want to give West Indies more preparation in Zimbabwean conditions if they are one of our opponents for a CWC spot?

Afghanistan have no other commitments during that period and cancelled the last tour so they do owe Zimbabwe. They were thoughts of why they’d be a more realistic opponent.
