Harare Sports Club

Post by eugene »

I think we need a thread dedicated to videos and photos of our favourite cricket ground in the world - Harare Sports Club! We all know Zimbabwe would have rolled Scotland had the game been played at HSC!

Did anyone else see this great video the ICC made about the ground?

Maybe Castle Corner should get the knighthood, the support at HSC was absolutely phenomenal.
Get the bloody floodlights in, the place would be rocking for a night game!

This is one of my favourite photos of HSC, from the early 1990s I think.

Looked better then that it does now. The developments done afterwards seemed to not take aesthetics into consideration.

Does anyone have a timeline of when the other structures were built? I was watching highlights of the 1997 England tour the other day and some of the current structures did not exist then.

I'm pretty sure the guys from Castle Corner had someone pay for them to move with the team to BYO and keep the support going. The songs being sang
(at QSC) were all Shona and i am not sure if that many Ndebele's would know the Shona war songs (even if they do, because of the bad blood they would rather not sing them i guess)?

Damn thats soo nostalgic, i started going to HSC in 2008 and i would not really know how it looked like before 2004. That really looks nice but since i only know it after that era, i prefer the one i am used to. Its still is a special ground and at the same time it also was a special ground back then!
