Why did he retire a week into a two year contract then?

Well they've got 4 days until the next series starts and we don't know who is the coach or the coaching staff or the squad!

Ya that shoot from the hip reaction from the Zolsky account and from Adam Theo in his desperation to bring breaking news has backfired. Now they're scrambling to find interim people, let alone permanent ones. The interim ones are likely to bring groans of despair.
They need to appoint an interim coach or coaches, depending on who's on the block, probably today.
Are we going to hear about it thru Zolsky, Adam Theo or through the grapevine via someone watching the first practice?
Until they start issuing formal statements through correct channels and start holding proper pressers where journalists can ask proper questions they'll retain the moniker of a family run business. That should be a journalist's first question- who's providing these guys with this information, and why?
Whilst they continue to do this everybody knows they don't give a damn about accountability and good governance.
They can make improvements here and there, and they most certainly have, great strides in fact, but its not enough. If their true intention is to rescue cricket from disaster then absolutely everything should be done correctly.

Unless Mr Houghton is moved sideways or upwards this is yet another massive waste of cash. Judging from Zolsky's comment about whites not being demi-Gods, upwards is unlikely. It really is low level stuff. Surely we can move forwards?

I'm curious whether this cricket committee is really convening to consider DH's and HM's cases. That in itself doesn't stack up when they're both part of that committee.
Im certain they've got no powers, they're just there to come up with ideas, probably not to even implement them.
Now they're supposedly having to make recommendations about two very high profile potential dismissals?
Doesn't stack up.
Would they discuss the issues amongst the remainder of them or would it take the form of a kangaroo court where they get to hear what DH and HM have to say?

It would just be window dressing as I said earlier. It's probably less to do with DH and more to do with HM, which in my view is the one they're not looking forward to.
It's a mess.

You need to put the best team on the park if you are in a decider and want to win. The allegation is that DH has full control of selection. Frankly I doubt that. We'll never know.

People are jumping on Welly coming in at 6 ahead of better batsmen. There's the left right combo thing that most teams use with good reason, but you send them out in that order if they're of similar ability. Hindsight is a fine thing but that was a blunder, whoever idea that was. It's not a firing offence.
In hindsight again Raza shouldn't have bowled Larry in the 18th. Bad mistake, not a firing offence either and certainly not in Mr Houghton's control. Raza makes up for his mistakes as a rule.

Raza should never have been put in that position anyway tbh. Chatara shouldn't have been anywhere near the squad in the first place , he has been below average for 12 months. For some reason they keep playing him which is mind blowing. Blessing , Richie and Jongwe plus the spinners was more than enough options for t20 cricket .
