Where to from here?
Re: Where to from here?
No some other guy, and I'm sure there's more to come, he looks very determined.
Re: Where to from here?
From the first two games of the trial, it doesn't look like either of the Welch boys are there yet.
Re: Where to from here?
I'm sure they're in the Eagles line-up playing 4 day cricket.
Re: Where to from here?
Plus Welch Sr is not u25
Re: Where to from here?
I'm stuck on this fact finding commission who's findings must surely be due now.
All they have to do is ask Mr Houghton what the problems are and who the problem people are. He's resigned, he's not going to withhold any information, not just in the national team, but across the board (pun intended). He was instrumental in getting Zim cricket on the map. They would be insane to let him go far.
If they actually want to attempt to save the game they need to give him a leading administrative role.
I'm sure they know, but maybe they want to hear another sugar coated version that they prefer. If the commission has any sense theyll give them the sugar coated version for an all expenses trip to Vic Falls. No upside in telling them what they dont want to hear. They also have Brent they could ask, he's not going to hold anything back either.
Our thrashing by SL and the Div2 club level franchise bowling that was on display yesterday is beyond alarming.
We're not completely bereft of players with ability. What we lack is people of ability to get them where they need to be.
Well we had a couple but ZC seem delighted to let them go or fire them. If you don't know what you're doing the golden rule is to hire people who do....and put them where they need to be with the authority they need.
One of the insurmountable problems appears to be selection processes across the board (pun intended again)
They seem completely incapable of putting the best team on the park. They've got Mutendira, Chigumbura, Masakadza and whoever else telling Houghton which team he needs to pick. Pleeeeeze!!!! He's forgotten more about cricket than the others combined will ever know.
Every time our national side gets raped it's another nail in the coffin. There are no dead rubbers for us. Somebody needs that tattooed on their forehead. There are no dead rubbers for us!!
If Williams is playing franchise cricket but not in the national side there's a problem. If he won't play under Chawaguta (I'm not saying that's the problem) then fly Williams to SL and fly Chawaguta back. Who's more important here?
The current people in coaching and admin roles are not fixing this mess. If you corner them individually they'll blame ZC as if they're not a part of it. It's ridiculous. If Mukhulani understands that the bell is tolling he needs to get the right people. He's crazy to let Houghton and Brent go. He should double whatever offer Brent has got. He needs a role in our cricket.

Re: Where to from here?
Zimbabwe in the last 6 months have regressed enough to be considered as below top associates level.
Atm Namibia are a better team than Zimbabwe and the 2nd best team in Africa. Zimbabwe are still better than Uganda though.
Top associates like Netherlands, Scotland will fancy beating Zimbabwe in any LOI series while UAE, Oman, Nepal will most likely be at par.
This is based on current evaluation of Zimbabwe team. These are alarming signs. I'm afraid this is getting worse by the day.
And there is nothing funny about this. We can name every player at domestic level but nothing is going to change. Even if they get Naqvi in, one player won't be able to change the results, they need multiple players to step up and perform and atm it looks a very long way away.

Re: Where to from here?
Naqvi is a club cricketer who can’t even crack windies domestic
He may be good enough to be in our 11 but he’s no saviour. Just a conservative bst who took advantage of slow low IQ bowling

Now imagine the team without Williams (37), Raza (37) and Craig (38).sam_ahm wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2024 7:16 amZimbabwe in the last 6 months have regressed enough to be considered as below top associates level.

Re: Where to from here?
Yeah mate, Naqvi cannot be a savior. He may yet to do better than others as he is doing at domestic level but at the moment there seem to be zero talent coming through, it is a grim picture.
Re: Where to from here?
We need a reformation of our technical coaching setup at all levels.
The head coach is nothing more than a motivator or organiser.
Our problems are more technical and competency based.
Matsi is out if his depth and needs to be replaced yesterday, but also we need every franchise to have a good technical team going forward.
BT will be good as a player (batting) coach here I reckon. He’s two and a half years into his suspension and I think ZC should really look into getting his sentence reduced to 3 years for the greater health of the game.
Jarvis would be better as a franchise bowling coach than a scout. Is he still there? Who has he scouted?
