He has not done a lot with the bat of late. Why is he an automatic selection? Needs to work harder.

Ya he is getting away with some failures due to lack of competition.

Btw how long will Myers continue to study? Wtf is he doing? Comes, plays cricket, disappears again, comes back again, why can't ZCB just ask him to play cricket for Zimbabwe and offer him a good contract. The guy is good.

Missed the second half of the game until the last 3 balls. Epic. I’m just happy they competed and from the comments here it looks like Raza is running things like he is still in the airforce academy

To be honest he is a 1 man show right now and some of these guys need a kick. He is right to demand more from everybody else because he is leading from the front.

Overall I think Burl needs competition even though he has really good T20 stats. He is almost 30. He needs to be consistent. From the first half of the game I watched I also wanted to ask about Madande’s role in this T20 team. He isn’t even really a keeper to begin with

Ya if we are playing him at number 8, almost a specialist keeper, there are at least half a dozen better glovesmen in the country than him.

Also read what Raza said after the game. A promise to get Zimbabwe back on track. It tells me he will be around until 2027 and try his best to make sure the kids figure it out. He also specifically said he is only happy when the team is winning. This is the right mentality. A winners mentality.

I’m more for that kind of energy than baby sitting failures. It’s also the right mentality for someone like Bennet to come into. Losing must never ever be ok. The kids should never get used to that. I’m pro Andy Flower and less of a fan of the Houghton approach. I also hope whoever coaches the u25s is a tough man.

This is an elite sport. A multi billion dollar industry. We need to create a culture of toughness. I was also thinking that maybe kids are also getting into the team too easily. It must be tough. Score 1000 runs minimum actually. They fast tracked Wes and it actually ended up destroying him. You need to earn it.

You would be surprised to see someone like Jonathan Campbell coming and doing well because he has had to work for half a decade. It didn’t come easy.

Very good post Taps.

This is the kind of intensity and positive mindset we need, I liked the little that I saw of Bennett so far, appears to have good composure.

Madande is a question mark here, this is where we have missed Chakabva. No big hitting WKB available in the country?

There's nothing wrong with identifying someone with that perceived bit extra and fast tracking them, other teams do it.
We've not had much success with it of late but BT and Hamilton found a way.
Shumba never really got going, maybe needed to mature a little. Madhevere got off to a good start but then faded.
I think if a youngster gets introduced into a team with some serious senior players and a really competent coaching environment he'd be OK. We don't have that.
Our national set up is really stop start. Once again for the 400th time this is why we need an HPC manned by serious people.
Young guys with real ability need a quality coach 24/7 that they click with and to train with good senior guys to feed off them.
Madhevere probably needed someone to assume a bit of a mentorship role because it appears some of his problems are outside of cricket. You give a youngster from a poor background more cash than his peers and essentially leave him to his own devices it's likely he'll lose focus.

I thought about Raza pulling a Flower on the team and I guess it's a good thing. The fact is we are pretty shit and maybe his approach will achieve better results than a stoic Ervine's. If he can help drag us up by whatever means then all power to him. He must not spare the senior players either, they're part of the problem. They're not special, if you consider yourself a senior player then perform on the field and train harder off it.

Madande at 7 or 8 in T20 is yet another waste of a vital space. Pick the best keeper instead and pick a better batsman. Same as Welly- if you're a specialist spinner then be that much better than the spinning all rounders.
Same as Burl- be a better batsman and become a much more reliable leggie.
Shumba thinks he's a pure batter. Nope he's not good enough, become an excellent bowler as well. Etc etc etc etc.

Still don't understand why Wellington is so highly rated. Completely over rated spinner
Careful, some people will defend him and his bowling to death.

sidenote- good to have you back, you worried me for a second that my prediction on your comeback was wrong.
