That's not fair, he's got plenty of shots in his locker. Everyone has a favorite 6 area. His other one is a back foot shot to a ball on 4th over extra, even a full ball he'll go off his back foot. He'll clear his front foot and falls back a bit, unorthodox, but he nails them.
Nobody really hits those top bowlers consistently unless they're having a good day.
Zimbabweans In Franchise League
Re: Zimbabweans in franchise league
Raza is international class (decent at internationals) but not world class (dominant at internationals).
The reason is he is inconsistent against good attacks.
We all need to get out of this habit of praising and worshipping against sun standard attacks. That’s in the ‘what they should already be doing’ category.
Craig Wishart even hit 173 against Namibia remember.

I’m starting to think that Raza might be a better T20 bowler than he is a bat nowadays.
It took him a couple of years to find his rhythm with his new style but it’s clicking.

Re: Zimbabweans in franchise league
How can a guy who’s in high demand by basically every single league - which is extremely rare for a Zimbabwean - not be considered world class?
We’ve never had anyone named in an ICC team of the year before in our history. Raza has just done it two years in a row!

Re: Zimbabweans in franchise league
I think Raza doesn’t get into the big 3 teams. SA he gets in because of the quota system. I don’t really follow New Zealand but for rest of the teams, he gets in.
To me he is actually at the beginning of his journey. To be truly world class he is going to have to be trusted more by his IPL team and bat higher up. Secondly he has to dominate the smaller leagues like he did yesterday. Finally even though the IPL is the pinnacle he has to do well in the Vitality Blast and at some point crack the Big Bash and the SA T20. I’m sure these are all personal goals for him and I’m confident he will achieve them.
I don’t think there are many better T20 all rounders than him right now. Must be in the top 5 even if you don’t look at the rankings. His bowling has really improved. Electric in the field too. Plus the wealth of experience.
These goals are what’s going to keep him playing maybe until the 2028 T20 World Cup.

Never been in the BBL.
Its 50/50 whether he gets another IPL gig. In typical Raza fashion he was wildly inconsistent against the good attacks.
I think if a player was world class, he would be drafted highly in the IPL and we wouldnt be questioning whether he was there or not.
Like Taps said, Raza wouldnt make the top 3 + NZ international teams.
If you are world class, you make every team, unless a rare situation like where Stuart Macgill, a top 3 leggie of his day is up against Warne, the best of his day and theres no real room for two. For arguments sake I'll ease that and say he makes 11/12 test nations teams, which he doesnt.

Wow didnt know that. I stand corrected.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2024 4:31 pm50/50 whether he gets another IPL deal?

Crazy when it was only less than 12 months earlier from his initial IPL pickup that Rajput tried to force him into T20 retirement. No wonder Raza is filthy at him.
