Durham land in the country on Monday for three weeks. They will play two 3 day games against a Zimbabwe "A" side and them play in the round robin domestic T20 competition.
I think each side plays each other once then the finals/qualifier.
Very interested to see the make up of the Zimbabwe "A" side. Hope it reflects the guys who have done well this season and who are on the fringes of the national side.
Durham tour of Zimbabwe
Re: Durham tour of Zimbabwe
We will probably end up with Chibhabha and Maruma in the team.
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes
Re: Durham tour of Zimbabwe
If I had to pick an 11 based on this seasons performances I’d go:
Matt Welch
Brian Chari (C)
Brian Bennett
Tony Munyonga
Jonathan Campbell
Ali Hamid
Alvin Chiradza (WK)
Donald Tiripano
Wellington Masakadza
Tendai Chatara
Ernest Masuku
12th man:
Marumani (couldn’t fit him in unless he keeps, but we all know how that goes)
That team would get hammered by Durham, would probably take 3 days get 10 wickets but these have all been the best performers I’d say. Tiripano has been the best seam bowling allrounder
Chari is not an opener (anymore), but if I had to pick one I’d say Mpofu over Curran for the extra bowling as well. It would be hard replace any of the bats though.

Re: Durham tour of Zimbabwe
A more realistic A side would probably be something like this:
Tinashe Kamunhukamwe
Takudzwanaishe Kaitano
Brian Bennett
Roy Kaia (C)
Antum Naqvi
Jonathan Campbell
Nyasha Mayavo (WK)
Faraz Akram
Wellington Masakadza
Tendai Chatara
Victor Nyauchi
12th - Marumani

Re: Durham tour of Zimbabwe
Both matty Welch,Brian bennett and Jono Campbell have healthy averages now and many recent hundreds. They should get a game regardless of their pigmentation.
Re: Durham tour of Zimbabwe
Will be interesting to see if Naqvi plays and how he does. I think he will play
Re: Durham tour of Zimbabwe
If they are playing 3 day games won’t we have a situation where they pick more than 11 players a side?CalZim wrote: ↑Sat Feb 17, 2024 10:47 pmIf I had to pick an 11 based on this seasons performances I’d go:

I’m hoping for one game they reward performance and then the second game they try out guys who they think might make our next test team. Guys like Curran and Gumbie for example. Maybe even give Ervine and Williams a go.Just to test them and we see where we stand. Where is Innocent Kaia?
Re: Durham tour of Zimbabwe
Imagine they brought their A team!!
Mark Woods, Matthew Potts, Ben Stokes and Brydon Carse as their seam attack. Bas De Leede.
Woods and Carse are downright fast!!!
Parkinson, Ackerman
McKinney, Bedingham, Borthwick, Jones, Robinson, Raine.
This is a world class team.

Re: Durham tour of Zimbabwe
I just hope some of their good guys are not available or this will be really ugly.
