Bawa hasn't played much high level cricket for a long time. His first u19 tour he did well, then had a poor second one. He's been a good player since he was a youngster. He could have been a good bowler, but doesn't seem to have pursued that. He will get some games, back to UK and we'll see him again next year.
It doesn't send a great message to some good players putting in the hard yards, but he is worth keeping in the loop.

What on earth is Carl Mumba doing there??
Plenty of better players than Carl. He showed early promise, but then dropped off badly. I don't think he's even a full time cricketer. I doubt he bowls over 120 these days.

I've watched quite a bit of Ronak Patel and Kamwemba. I'm not convinced about either of them, but it's early days. Kamwemba has a bit of fight in him, which is good. They've overlooked a number of better players....as usual. Will they EVER get it right?
That was rhetoric, the answer is no.
I've seen once or twice Patel has a bit to say to senior cricketers. I'm old school, that would have not gone well for him back in my day.

In Kaia, Welch, Naqvi, Frost and Kaitano and perhaps Bawa they've got a nucleus of decent batters with good techniques. How does Frost get a call-up? He was in Ireland.
If you were going to pick the guy surely to God you'd pick him for the Chigumbura Academy that's over there. That way he has to travel 50km down the road and knows how to bat in English conditions, not ask him to come 10 000km in the other direction??
Right there you know he's Mangongo's boy.
Just an observation, doesn't change the fact that he's a decent player. He'll be paying for his own flight would be my guess.

In Mavuta, Mafudza and Macheka (if he's not injured) we've got 3 quality bowlers. Its not a bad side, but as usual they've padded it out with a couple of guys that they're hoping Jesus will wave his wand over. It's the same with every single squad they ever pick, from age group to the national side. It's why we are usually not competitive. You can't carry players, they'll NEVER learn.

Carl Mumba  there’s always one head scratching pick.

Codi Yusuf is a very good bowling all-rounder for the Lions. He will likely play for South Africa at some stage.

Dian Forrester is an aggressive all-rounder, expect plenty of sixes from him, and plenty of wickets as well.

Andile Simelane has improved a lot, and Mihlali Mpongwana has plenty of experience now. :)

I think we are in for a tough time again!

I thought Tinashe Muchawaya was in England? Did they decide to fly him back for this? :?:

I actually have some expectations from our squad. Will be an interesting series.

I am curious to know if this is Mangongo and the guys in England are Elton’s guys. I wish they could play against each other actually. Would be very interesting. Also did Myers, Campbell and Bennett stay in the UK or did they fly back?

Ya that's an interesting question. You play an international test match and then join a squad that's playing the occasional game against county two/academy sides. Not saying it's a bad idea, it's opportunity to experience different conditions and different players, but it's not something you see every day, if at all.
Other teams are going to their next test match.
I'm liking the volume, any opposition will do.

I don’t care how good they are, or if they are even playing but get blignauts kids in the squads. We need more blignauts, it’s a blignauts world and we are blessed to be in it
The Zimbabwe Cricket team have found Ebola in one of their members, but they're not concerned because they have also found Ebatsmen and Efielda!

Awad Naqvi playing ahead of Antum?

At least cricinfo says so.

Btw another failure for Nick Welch when it matters.
