I said it first!
What a knock...only saw a bit of it, but seems the top candidate to be the next gen Brendon Taylor.

He almost had a T20 hundred as well against those farmers. Living up to his potential. Lovely to see
Re: Brian Bennett is the real deal
I was the guy who said he should be opening though

Re: Brian Bennett is the real deal
Today was impressive, but I hate to always be that guy to pour water, but I'm usually right, just remember to wait until he is tested against an international quality attack. We don't know if his unusual technique will hold against a top 8 team, let alone a top 4.Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2025 3:21 pmI said it first!

Re: Brian Bennett is the real deal
Bennett does need to be tested against the big boys, but there is something about his temperament that seems encouraging. He seems to handle pressure well, whereas Curran looks quite nervous.

I wouldn’t laugh at Irelands attack. Little is a 140 bowler and Adair can get it up to the high 130s. It’s far better than Uganda or Nepal’s bowling attacks. And it’s not like he only scored 60-70 odd…he smacked a 150+ daddy hundred and looked solid doing it.ZIMDOGGY wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2025 5:31 pmToday was impressive, but I hate to always be that guy to pour water, but I'm usually right, just remember to wait until he is tested against an international quality attack. Re: Brian Bennett is the real deal
Not many cricketers can say they have a 150 score in ODIs, credit where credit is due.
It’s going to be interesting out of the batsmen, who looks comfortable in England in swing and seam conditions when they play in May. Knowing Zim it won’t be pretty, maybe Willo if he is available and Welch if he plays? Ervine’s always looked vulnerable initially against a moving ball, don’t have high hopes for the rest of the top order

Again it’s a disclaimer that he did well today.Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2025 6:41 pmI wouldn’t laugh at Irelands attack. Little is a 140 bowler and Adair can get it up to the high 130s. But let’s always remember that Craig Wishart hit 172* against Namibia with an older and smaller bat and Hamilton hit 180* against Kenya 16 years ago. Not to mention Charles Coventry and his record breaking (at the time) double century against Bdesh.
No one would ever argue those guys are world class…. And you can compare and split hairs between what Bennett has done today and those guys but it’s isn’t worlds apart.
Massively encouraging step though, and I’d argue that’s the belligerence an international bat should be dishing up against a team like Ireland.
Irelands strength has always been their batting and no one has ever seen their attack rip through a team.
Remember this.
Brendan Taylor hit a 140+ against SA when he was a younger man as well. There is a lot more going into that innings than today.
When Bennett cut that dolly square and it was dropped, that is the end of him 98% of the time. SA players (or most else) wouldn’t drop it.
The problem is ZCF gets excited all the time without fully thinking it all through.
My real dig here is not Bennett, but the others who can’t bludgeon this attack
