Per ZC:
Vusimuzi Sibanda was not selected for the traveling party as the selectors upheld the ZC Cricket Committee policy which states that to be eligible for national selection, one has to be contracted to play domestic cricket in Zimbabwe. At the beginning of the season, Sibanda was offered a ZC contract which he declined in favor of one to play Grade Cricket in Australia.

The eligibility policy provides for exceptions in the case of once-off tournaments abroad in which case a no-objection certificate is issued, such as the one given to Zimbabwe captain Brendan Taylor.

they could put forster mutizwa in at number 3 keep taylor at 4 and bring masakadza up to open. This does effect the balance of the side however greatly. This is all rather unfortunate

Myopia at its finest.

Gutted. Really gutted. My only hope is that Vusi doesn't now up sticks for good and who could blame him. I imagine both her and Butcher are seething.

It seems a genuine misunderstanding. Craziness reigns supreme. Bullsh*t.

What a terrible joke. Poor decisions, I felt, by Vusi but this is even worse.

^ This!

Vusi is one Zim's best players. Can't afford to lose him permanently.

I wonder when this policy was drawn up - or when they added the "no objection" clause - because neither Butcher nor Sibanda gave any indication they were aware of it.

i wonder if i even need to tune in to the one-off Test? let me write the obituary now; they look for a make-shift opener, doesn't matter too much who, but probably the 'in form' (middle order) Taylor [no Duffin or Ewing], won't cope = pressure on middle order = back to usual collapses = bowlers left defending small totals = resign themselves to failure = give up & mentally prepare for ODIs before the end of the second day of the test... job done!! Fielding first may prolong the test to the 4th day!! The only reason to tune in - apart from the sadohope we are destined to endure - will be to see which lamb they send to be slaughtered as #1 bat.

Thank you to whichever party (Sibanda, ZC, Butcher...) is responsible ...

This all should have been clarified a lot earlier than has been, When vusi signed a contract with the australian club side why did the commitee not meet up then to give them there position
Still one mans misfortune is anothers gain and I hope that the underated Forster Mutizwa is picked for the test at least and continues his rich vein of logan cup form

A No Objection Certificate from a player's home board is a necessity if a player to appear in any foreign domestic cricket. Presumably this didn't apply in Sibanda's case, as he was only playing club cricket. Taylor would have required a NOC from ZC in order to be available to play for Wellington.
