Re: For crying out loud - DROP KYLE JARVIS!
Fair enough. Considering a lot of the other bowlers won't be able to get sufficient chances, then we'll give him the benefit of the doubt in Tests, even if our innings defeats combined with his current inability to make the most of that sole chance, mean it'll take him years to live up to that billing!
It's already clear that many years from now the likes of Rainsford & Mupariwa etc will have a higher ranking and legacy when we speak of past Zim bowlers due to their VASTLY superior ODI exploits. However, they're still active players, and shall be for another 5+ years. Thus the irony with this quote........ZIMDOGGY wrote:But is he the best we have? i believe so.

Well he is better looking than the other fast bowlers. I guess he is the best we have in that regard.
Seriously if he can't get Guptill or Nicol or even McCullum out then there are others who can.
Meth is the best we have. He just needs to use his head a little bit more.

honestly love Zimdoggy's postings ... but seldom agree with everything! In this case i think he answered 4 of the 5 questions correctly - and can see how convincing such a stat might be ... unfortunately it was the last answer i disagree with. But I'm not convinced anyone is going to do a great deal better ...aydee wrote:Nail. Head.ZIMDOGGY wrote:is kyle an international quality fast bowler?

PS - I see from 'chappie-coventry's comments' that aussie's are as susceptible to delusions as the rest of us - you're probably here chappie because we're a welcoming bunch of clowns at heart. When it comes down to it, the average zim cricket fan cannot take himself too seriously...

Just reviewing open threads further to this announcement. While the subject of this thread is fine, these sort of comments are not and will result in thread locks in future.

Re: For crying out loud - DROP KYLE JARVIS!
Some continue to observe ready signs for international level, I continue to see a toothless bulldog who would struggle to hold his own over a full Logan Cup. As will be the norm herewith latest stats which were responsible for the Central Stags' decision (one only wonders if Vitori would've gotten this contract instead had he had a Bangladesh Test type performance on this tour.....):
Test: Ma1, Wk1, Ave120, Eco3.67, SR196
ODIs: Ma3, Wk4, Ave43, Eco6.37, SR40.5
Like I said, Jarvis WILL not better his career stats, they can only get worse and worse! For as long as he's not taking wickets at the right stage of the match(which is an endless problem), he will continue to have pathetic Strike Rates series after series!

Nicely failed to include 4 wickets in 2 T20s. For a guy who supposedly never takes wickets, he's been getting a lot of poles.

Re: For crying out loud - DROP KYLE JARVIS!
That was deliberate. I didn't want o drag the only statistic at which he has a better international record than his domestic one(Twenty20) - because that says a lot about his ability in the format against domestic players! It's generally accepted that T20Is comprise fringe players, funny batting orders and tactics. As you wish I will include his T20 stats: Ma2, Wk4, Ave16.75, Eco9.57, SR10.5Jemisi wrote:Nicely failed to include 4 wickets in 2 T20s. Bowling Tour Averages: Test, ODIs, T20s
Instead of paying attention to that you should be more concerned about those four wickets. International Novice Rob Nicol walking down to our so called premier fast bowler and playing across to an easy straight hit, Brendan McCullum - who knows what possessed him to fetch that one(did acknowledge they were needlessly careless not beaten), the other two came in the 19th over of the 2nd match when the opposition already had 180 on the board - both largely due to circumstances and the batsman's inefficiences not the bowler's excellence!
He was dropped(NOT ROTATED) more than a couple of times when Bang, Pak&NZ visited us (for not taking tangible wicketsa and being expensive&clueless), and if it wasn't for the fact that we were touring - limited poor personnel & options, plus Mpofu injured - he wouldn't have been dropped this time as well! I don't think anybody should bother arguing with me about Jarvis. You've been on a hiding to nothing from day one, and he'll continue to give me enough evidence to ensure that he will be eventually be dropped before he gets better. Like him openly, no harm in that, but just don't back him blindly! You'll be disappointed!
