Hopefully im not breaking any rules with this thread. As you may all be aware im new to the forum so i apologise if this has been discussed before.
I really want to know whats happening to players who really should be in the Zim team. The main player that springs to mind is Garry Ballance. The man has an average in domestic cricket that is better than Michael Clarke, yet still cant make the team. He sure as hell wont make the England team and he is after all the nephew of the head of selectors. Surely Zim can have him in their team.
There are a few other players that i can think off such as Tendai Chatara, Panyangara, Coventry, Duffin and others im sure i cant think of right now.
It seems that most of the performing players in our domestic comp are those from overseas.
Which players should be in the team and why are the players we have mentioned missing out.

Re: The Missing Players
Chatara - considered too raw/not good enough yet
Coventry- not good enough (except t20 team) people are now saying he doesn't play Logan cup 4 dayers any mo'
Duffin - he's on the fringe if selection. Could b close, he just isn't considered a match winner.
Panyangara- just a bad player who's struggling to hold his spot for the mountaineers
Michael Clarke - Australia
There's one guy we should be chasing IMO and it's THIS guy;

Correction, Panyangara actually plays for the Rocks. If he's not playing, he's injured, not dropped! Just go through each and every one of the Rocks' Logan Cup games, have a look at some of the top orders he opened the bowling against, and I'm sure you'll agree that he's been brilliant for them this season. Next to Querl, the hardest bowler to put away this season(based on a combination of economy & maidens). If we ignore the stats/wickets all bowlers got against the Rocks, Tinashe would've been right up there. You must bear in mind that he missed a couple of matches, and the Rocks losing by an innings each time, which meant he bowled only once. So technically Tinashe is among the top 4 bowlers this season! Helps to read a little bit more into players' performances so you can fairly judge them.
Who needs 29yr old left armer Scott Branson when we've got our very own 22yr old studs Vitori(mercurial left armer) and Jarvis!

Re: The Missing Players
Panyangara has too many injury problems. He wouldn't last a full test without breaking down.

I like that, at least you're starting to give him credit. Question of injuries instead of competence if i get you correctly.....eugene wrote:Panyangara has too many injury problems. He wouldn't last a full test without breaking down.

Re: The Missing Players
After the NZ disaster, we need Scott Branson. The problem with Zimbos & ZC is arrogance. We should be determined to pick anyone who has any Zim link even if we have to move mountains. We got a lot of players out there who need little persuasion to play for Zim and to improve out standards. Its like any other profession now churning out players to play for other countries. Anyway we need all these playershhm wrote:You never cease to amaze me!ZIMDOGGY wrote:Michael Clarke - Australia

Yeah, but whats the deal with him. I may have missed why he dsnt get selected or why he chose not to.
THe thing is this guy and many others are elgible for Zim. Ballance only comes to minds because hes good. Hes the nephew of the head of selectors and we cant get him to play for Zimbabwe.
If we have talent that is there and we cant get them in the Zim squad then we have some issues and it really needs to be addressed.

we dont talk about garry ballance in these parts..
