Race Storm Hits Zim Cricket
Re: Race Storm Hits Zim Cricket
A racial storm and now it seems politics being pulled in as well. All I hope for is, for the sake of the players, that Zimbabwe Cricket survives this storm. Speaking to some of the local players today they said they don't mind who the selectors are as long as the right team is selected.

Re: Race Storm Hits Zim Cricket
My favoriteIn the first place Coltart issued his directive in a fraudulent manner under the false name of the SRC. This is because the commission does not have a board to formulate and implement the purported directive. A perusal of the record shows that the term of the previous board of the commission expired on October 31, 2012, and there has been no replacement. Where there’s no board, there can be no directive.
In terms of the law, power cannot be exercised arbitrarily or in general and nebulous terms at the whim and caprice of a minister without reference to a specific section of the enabling law and without gazetting the desired action on the basis of that law. The fact that Coltart is a lawyer and therefore should know this is enough to prove his sinister intentions because no self-respecting lawyer would seek to implement an arbitrary directive that has no legal basis and that does not even have Cabinet authority.
Zimbabwe Cricket’s reference to Article 2.9(B) of the ICC Articles of Association which prohibit government interference in the management of the affairs of member associations is an important and relevant secondary and not primary reason for rejecting Coltart’s illegal directive. The primary reason is the Zimbabwean law.
What is as shocking as it is revealing is that Coltart, who is a lawyer, wants Zimbabweans to ignore the fact that Article 2.9(B) of the ICC Articles of Association does indeed exist and wants them to focus instead on the fact that Sri Lankan and Pakistan cricket are in violation of this ICC Article 2.9(b) of Association and that this violation somehow justifies his illegal directive.
In other words, Coltart is saying “if Sri Lanka and Pakistan are doing it illegally, then we must also did it illegally”. This is utter crap which shows that Coltart does not get it and is an enemy of the rule of law. His shocking irrationality is equivalent to a stupid lawyer who defends a client accused of murder by submitting that his client must be left alone to murder some more because there are other murderers out there going scot free.
The fact is that the ICC stands by Article 2.9(b) of its Articles of Association and has given Sri Lanka and Pakistan a reprieve and is closely working with them to comply while Zimbabwe Cricket is already in compliance which partly explains why it has rejected Coltart’s illegal directive.
So this hypocrite was already reversing gains in other sectors as well...This again shows that Coltart does not get it. No Zanu PF minister would treacherously dare seek to reverse the gains of our hard-won and heroic independence by giving a directive intended to disempower the indigenous population in favour of erstwhile Rhodesian interests. That is unthinkable.
It appears from the record that Coltart suffers from an acute case of delusions of the grandeur. He imagines himself to be a champion of human rights and the rule of law only by dint of the white colour of his skin simply because his race easily and readily connects him to Western interests and that gives him an exaggerated sense of a superiority complex.
It is unthinkable that an unwilling soldier of conscience in Rhodesia could have been the best recruit. There is clearly more to Coltart’s Rhodesian history than the people have known and his recent racist directive is a telling window into his dark past. This perhaps explains why there is nothing in Coltart’s history that locates him in support of Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle or its legacy. Nothing!
Coltart prepared these affidavits not as a human rights activist — which he has never been — but as a hired lawyer under instruction from Rhodesian interests!
In the same vein, his policy thrust as education minister is run by a so-called Education Transition Trust which meets once a month at his ministerial offices and whose composition is 70 percent white with the 30 percent remainder made up of the black employees of the same 70 percent white bloc that runs the trust plus a sprinkling of a few ministry officials.
Under Coltart, the last four years have seen a concerted effort to kill the very system of public education that has been Zimbabwe’s national pride by not only privatising it but also by creating white colonies within it that are reminiscent of the Rhodesian “Group A” schools that are now once again springing up as colonies in our country.
As part of Coltart’s racist initiative in education, these schools are running their own foreign syllabi and have become apartheid islands that are not relating to the rest of the schools in the public educational system even in sports and recreational activities.
I agree! They must get rid of him very quickly! That AC must go is also a given. However, the fact that Taylor was in cahoots with these conspirators in an effort to outsmart Makoni illegally, makes it a necessity that he is completely stripped of captaincy in every format!Coltart has a dangerous racist agenda which he is pursuing with his racist cabal of Rhodies in a fraudulent manner with no legal basis. He must be stopped by any and all means necessary.
I'm sorry but the majority don't share your view. The bulk of these online news sites are anti-ZANU, pro-western freedom of speech, always quick to criticise the "regime". Unfortunately this time the support for Makoni and ZC, against Coltart, is overwhelming, and they are quite happy running reports to that effect. If you don't share the sentiments of the majority - naturally belonging to the minority, then your constituency is irrelevant to the greater scheme of things.zimfan1 wrote:And people continue to ask me why I left Zimbabwe
So you choose to ask questions from a moral perspective and refuse, as bayhaus advised, to 'not be mislead by any political rhetoric but look at the facts presented'? Coltart is dumb, counterfeit, and he messed up big time. Admit it! They'll eat him alive and ruin his law credentials!eugene wrote:This whole situation is crap. Why does Zimbabwe still have these problems with people always talking about hidden racial agendas and other such conspiracies? Is there really such a complete lack of trust? Jonathan Moyo criticising David Coltart on his human rights record is a bit rich.

Re: Race Storm Hits Zim Cricket
The Bangladesh National Sports Council(NSC), equivalent of Zim's SRC, tried to do a Coltart. Was struck down by the courts!
, and the very statements issued pertaining to the directive, are null and void! Do you hear that dumb Senator? Undereducated fraudster!
We need some excitement, someone please call for a commission. Coltart and AC need to be destroyed! That'll be the easiest way to indirectly punish him for meddling with the education as well, and embarrass his side of the faction ahead of the polls. 3 birds with one stone.

Essentially, the NSC(SRC), only has authority to rubber stamp what is given/proposed to them by the association. They have no authority to add or subtract. Even making communication pertaining to something illegal, is considered null and void, which basically means your directive itself, which you fraudulently issued under Col Nhemachena's name, in the absence of a boardThe amended constitution of the Bangladesh Cricket Board has been declared illegal by the Dhaka High Court. Delivering the verdict on Sunday, the court said the National Sports Council, the regulatory body of sports associations in Bangladesh, does not hold the authority to make the change. The order implies that the amended constitution of 2008 has been upheld, and the next elections would be held under it.
Justice Sarah Mahbub and Justice Abdur Rab delivered the verdict after hearing the writ petition jointly filed former BCB director Mobasher Hossain and Yusuf Jamil, a local organiser. In December last year, the court had asked the NSC why the amended constitution should not be considered illegal, putting a stay order on the new constitution for three months.
"The NSC, on November 29, through a letter sent an amended constitution to the BCB. That letter along with the amendments has been declared null and void," Mahbub Shafique, one of the lawyers appointed by the petitioners, told reporters. "As per Article 26 of the BCB's constitution the NSC has no authority to amend the constitution. According to Article 11, they have the authority to accept the proposed amendments sent to them by the BCB."
The NSC last year had approved the BCB's new constitution by bringing in changes to the one that had been sent to them after an Extraordinary General Meeting [EGM] on March 1 last year. The new constitution called for an election of the BCB president by the directors. The EGM had decided to elect the president by councillors' votes (members of various clubs, districts, divisions, certain institutions and former players who hold voting rights in BCB elections).
The other changes were made in the number of councillors from among the Dhaka Premier League clubs and by selecting three directors (as opposed to just one) from the NSC itself, to increase the size of the directors' body, and increase the government's influence in the board. The BCB is largely a democratically elected body that has 24 directors (23 elected and, until now, one NSC representative) and a government-appointed president.

We need some excitement, someone please call for a commission. Coltart and AC need to be destroyed! That'll be the easiest way to indirectly punish him for meddling with the education as well, and embarrass his side of the faction ahead of the polls. 3 birds with one stone.

What happens in a Bangladeshi court has no relevance to what the SRC (Zimbabwe) can or cannot do, I would've thought.hhm wrote:The Bangladesh National Sports Council(NSC), equivalent of Zim's SRC, tried to do a Coltart. Was struck down by the courts!![]()

Agreed! I posted reasoning to that effect. The difference is all Sports Councils/Confederations/Commissions are toothless bulldogs like the League of Nations! As a lawyer, not retired army general/former marathon runne in the SRCr, Coltart should have known that. Unless of course he wants to be reminded by the Zim courts just like the Bangladesh NSC.maehara wrote:What happens in a Bangladeshi court has no relevance to what the SRC (Zimbabwe) can or cannot do, I would've thought.hhm wrote:The Bangladesh National Sports Council(NSC), equivalent of Zim's SRC, tried to do a Coltart. Coltart has exposed himself to the scrutiny of his personal profile and self-proclaimed achievements; his legal acumen has been proved to be non-existant, there's little left for him really. Alistair Campbell's meddling is public knowledge and his pissing his pants where he is, the more Coltart gets hammered by the media and respected figures. They are on their knees, what word should I have used? Eliminated, obliterated, annihilated, cruched, embraced, forgiven? I certainly didn't mean physical harm.

Re: Race Storm Hits Zim Cricket
This article sheds a bit more light on the Cricket Committe of which AC is head.
Anyway, judging from some of the things mentioned here, it's pretty clear there are some tactics employed in Education(Coltart), and Cricket(Coltart & AC) all designed to disadvantage black people. It's not surprising then that this attempt at cricket happened. AC, how can you cut off the very ZCU/ZC schorlaships in Chruchill that were responsible for the core of cricket in Zimbabwe today and for the next 10 years? Couldn't you come up with less obvious racist antics. Whoever is advising you lot hasn't earned his money. So many extreme changes in such a short space of time.
One thing is certain, the standard and knowledge of Zimbabwe journalists has been improved by this situation. The finer aspects of the game's development, administration and coaching are something they've grown conversant with in a short period. That's the great positive. Even politicians will familiarise themselves with the game and I'm sure parliament will be making informed noises directed at a sorry looking Minister! That makes the Cricket Committee even more crucial. Remember this is the committee that shapes the future of the game in Zimbabwe.
It is also the one whose policies can create problems in the game like was the case last year when Alistair Campbell’s committee controversially barred Vusi Sibanda from touring New Zealand.
We must have a set-up that DOES NOT allow a national cricket captain to go and play Twenty20 cricket in Bangladesh ahead of a Test tour of the Caribbean, especially when the ideal first-class tournament (Logan Cup) is taking place at home.
- There are more controversial decisions that this Cricket Committee has made in recent times that will take our game backwards, to the pre-integration era.
- There are NO more scholarships for promising cricketers at institutions like Churchill. Thus cricket will soon been restricted to private schools only. Back to square one!
- The CFX Academy -built by Zimbabwe Cricket- that was meant to help upcoming cricketers develop has now gone private and disadvantaged players no longer have access to quality facilities. The centre is no longer user friendly.
- The Cricket Committee has made between 60-70 percent development coaches redundant. For instance, Harare province now has just six or seven development coaches. Ideally the province needs at least 30 development coaches. So effectively the production chain is being killed and in five years the country will start feeling the effects.
- In the past there would be an average of 18 contracted players per franchise but the number is now down to between 10 and 12.
- The Twenty20 tournament discriminates against the very local players it should benefit. There are reports that all the local players got was US$20 per day as allowances over nine days. Foreign players are understood to have signed contracts that earned them figures as high as US$3 000 to US$10 000. In the end, we have a tournament promoting television and not the domestic game and its players.
So when a proper analysis of the challenges facing cricket in the country is done, the issue of who sits on the national selection panel will not even occupy the first TWO pages of the list. And what is needed is for Minister Coltart and stakeholders to attend to the real cricket issues. Once development and integration are fully implemented then the composition of the selection panel will never been an issue.
Anyway, judging from some of the things mentioned here, it's pretty clear there are some tactics employed in Education(Coltart), and Cricket(Coltart & AC) all designed to disadvantage black people. It's not surprising then that this attempt at cricket happened. Re: Race Storm Hits Zim Cricket
How can ZC fund scholarships to school when there is not even enough money to pay the franchise players. Stop blaming AC for everything you think is bad in Zim Cricket. At the moment you are looking at everything to blame on racialism. Wake up and smell the coffee whether its white or black and realise it more to do the local economy which is at a very low
