So what does Brandon Diplock aspire to do? Represent Zimbabwe at the top level? Is he planning to be available for the Franchise season if an opening arises? How do you assess his game?hutchs3 wrote:Hi just wanted to wish the Zimbabwean Team all the best for tomorrow. God Bless each and everyone if you

Australia 0/74 after 15 overs. They won the toss and elected to bat. Defiantly time for Geyle, so we can get some control back.

Geyle hasn't been able to help unfortunately. Looks like Burl can bowl some handy part-time spin. Just going to have to wait for a miss hit or gem of a ball to get our first wicket, because the openers are well and truly set.

Our top three did really well; just fell away after that which is a shame.
Our bowling is a real worry, mustn't be building enough pressure at both ends, and most likely not bowling enough good balls.
Hopefully they just improve a bit over the next few matches.

Hopefully Gumbie goes to the Tuskers this season, if he's not already on their list. Handy to have if Coventry isn't available.
Re: [Series Thread] U19 Quadrangular in India
Like you say mentality is a big thing. If you go in to bat without that fear of losing your wicket, you become more inclined to play your shots and do more in the crease. When you start scoring runs and getting shots away you start putting the bowler off his game and that in turns make your batting easier. The thing is that this is a problem all the way down from the national team to the youngsters. When a batsman does do well there is no consistency and usually the next game or two they will struggle to score runs.aydee wrote:I don't think it's really about fear. It's about ability (of which, mental approach is of course a part). It's not as if you could just say "don't be scared" and everyone would start scoring runs...zimbos_05 wrote: When are we actually going to teach our batsmen to play cricket shots and never be afraid to play those shots. Are we all about defending our wicket and trying to more not to get out rather than score runs?
One of the major issues is that the main issue is that we struggling with spin. This again is an issue from the top. Are our batsmen not practicing against spin?
I really think that these are worrying questions. We always find ourselves in good positions and then it just goes horribly wrong because of our batting.

Unfortunately coaching in Zimbabwe has always sought to stifle creativity and teach 'proper' technique.
