Raza
Hami
BRMT
Ervine
Williams
Burl
Mire
Chigs
Utseya ( depending on how good his mystery spinner are )
Panyangara
Chatara

I like this lineup because we bat deep down to 8 plus Utseya and Tinashe can bat if needed, I know Burl hasn't much experience but he has class and I believe is worth a shot. Chigs and Mire must bowl we can also get overs from Williams, Hami and Raza ....

Regis
Vusi
Vitori
Chinoyua

Regis and Vusi have both experience in Oz which is why I've selected them obviously not for current ODI form and Vitori and Chinoyua have more pace than Madziva or Mupariwa so might get better results in these conditions although if Mupariwa got selected I wouldn't complain ......

I'd also like to see Willy as captain .....

Indian left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha banned from bowling.
I did not see this coming. I was getting frustrated that being arguably the best spinner in the country, why he was not getting picked ahead of Jadeja and now Axar Patel and Karn Sharma!

This committee of Javagal Srinath, Venkataraghavan and Jayaprakash has done an outstanding job, if you look at getting things done away from international limelight. The committee could not have been more qualified too, an internationally respected pacer who has also been an ICC referee, an internationally known offie and another with loads of domestic experience, both having officiated as elite level umpires.

Back to Utseya, why the selectors should just believe that his mystery spinners are as effective as what he is known for all his career is beyond me. For all practical purposes, he is a new bowler who must prove his worth.

Agree. Utseya needs to play a few games to prove his worth.
And I think we too need a committee to weed out suspect actions, so that these problems are sorted out in the grass root levels.

Spinners usually are used in a holding role in Aus and NZ whilst attacking with the seamers, so do we have a spinner who hold an end up ? Maybe Lamb ?

I'm still not sold on Kamungozi he bowled well in BD but different conditions and against the best teams he is still an unknown quality, Nyumbu is a wicket taker not really economical ....

Has anyone got footage of Utseya's mystery spinners ??

Will Zimbabwe play any more ODI's before the WC ??

I agree.
But I don't think Lamb has ever been known for his accuracy. Kamungozi seems to be the best option at the moment but he needs to prove his worth against better opposition.
As for Utseya, I have no idea how he bowls these days. He has worked hard and has been around for a long time now, so it would be cruel to ignore him. He needs to be given a chance. If he performs well, he should be selected in the final 15-man squad.
It wouldn't be a bad idea to participate in the UAE hexangular next month, but I don't think we're going to....

We Have Canada coming for 10days in Jan---perhaps the squad will join the UAE series, hence the Whatmore (staff) :D connection.
Utseya is a no go in my opinion- it's a bit like telling Willow he can bat but not play sweep or pull shots!!

I guess the WC squad of final 15 needs to be announced by Jan 7 as per ICC rules. So, I feel there isn't much of a time left to judge how effective the remodelled action of Utseya is. It'll be a huge risk to play him in the WC. I also won't pick him & rather stick with Tafadzwa Kamungozi.

I agree. Kamungozi has won me over after his impressive displays in Bangladesh and as others have said, he should extract some decent bounce in AUS/NZ conditions what with his height.

There is no UAE hexangular. It was merely a proposal by the ICC High Performance committee but fell apart once BD and ZIM decided it was not a worthwhile excercise. It won't even be an Associate quadrangular...Ireland and Afghanistan are playing a 2 match series, and then there will be some other one-off ODIs. They should have made it a quadrangular but maybe the funding wasn't there.
