Dav Whatmore got into the job after the 30 member team provincial squad has been anounced. Now as part of Whatmore's conditions to accepting the job he said he wants to be in charge of team selection, which automatically limits Makoni's powers in the selection panel. As well as that the best possible players be picked at any given time.
The twist is Whatmore wants to take a look at Cremer, Coventry, Meth, Jarvis and even Tatenda Taibu(Though highly unlikely Tiba will agree). But he has under 12 hrs to announce the final team. Chibhabha has also made a shout, so has Mupariwa already.

It doesn't really matter for the World Cup if Whatmore is looking for Cremer, Coventry, Meth, Jarvis, Taibu. 4 of them don't have any serious match fitness and Jarvis was mostly horrible in ODIs. But if this attitude is allowed to continue beyond the WC and the doors are open for everyone, then we might see some transformation in future.

Chakabva ? Great form in tests but never past 50 in ODI's has experience in oz

Sibanda ? No form at all but has experience in oz and undoubted potential

Chamu ? Hasn't played international cricket for 3 years but just scored 150

Mupariwa ? Best domestic seamer hadn't played international for 6 years

Burl ? Great talent but does he have runs on the board

Vitori ? So much skill but is he injured or is he in form

Matsi ? Form on the board has only recently returned to cricket

Maruma ? Out of his depth internationally but always seems to make the squad

Nyumbu ? The new man on the block is now seemingly out in the cold

M'shangwe ? Is he better than Kamungozi

Kamungozi ? Will he be competitive against the big nations

Waller ? Hasn't scored a run for ages and can't bowl anymore

Shingi ? Gets dropped when playing well then gets selected for no apparent reason

Surely only BRMT, Hami, willy, Panga, Chatara, Raza, Chigs and Mire are certainties but who knows what they'll come up with ......
