Over the season on an average, 6 players in the XI must be colored, of them 2 must be black African.
This will definitely mark the end of SOU where selection will be based on skin color rather than merit. This will give a free passage to Duminy, Parnell. Steyn & Morkel will quit ODIs very soon. This will drive retirements, county stint & freelancer job for whites Viljoen, Pretorious, Paterson, De Lange, Wiese, Abbott etc.
Based on quota or average whatever, in tests between Steyn or Morkel only one can play and if both plays then 1 ''white'' batsman needs to be dropped which will be Du Plessis.
In tests, get Bavuma to open. Phangiso & Pheulukwayo will make all squads. Don't pick Zondo, he's not international standard.
* Star marked quota players
Test: 1 Cook 2* Bavuma 3* Amla 4 De Villiers 5 Du Plessis 6* Duminy 7 De Kock 8* Philander 9* Rabada 10* Piedt 11 Steyn.
OR 1 Cook 2* Bavuma 3* Amla 4 De Villiers 5* Duminy 6 De Kock 7* Parnell/Piedt 8* Philander 9* Rabada 10 Morkel 11 Steyn.
ODI: 1 De Kock 2* Amla 3 Du Plessis 4 De Villiers 5* Duminy 6* Behardien 7 Morris 8* Parnell 9* Pheulakwayo/Phangiso 10* Rabada 11 Tahir
This is ''racism'' & ICC should interfere. How they can allow players to be picked based on their ''skin color'' rather than ''merit'', that too in 21st century ? Those ''transformation'', ''indigenization'', or ''demographic representation'' can't be enforced. If they want black or colored people to play cricket that should be done from the grass root levels, not based on quota. If they are good enough they will make the cut like Ntini, Rabada.

Re: South Africa sets ''racial'' quotas for national team
Doesn't go far enough.
Should be 7 players of colour in the team at any one point.
Who cares about winning?
This is equality here.
I'd also like to see 4 coloured players with t least two aboriginals in the side as a quota for Australia too.

Quotas no problem today. The fact that the quotas are averaged out over an entire season offer the selectors a bit of flexibility, plus there are enough quality players who are black and coloured for the team to be competitive with the best.

Re: South Africa sets ''racial'' quotas for national team
SA will probably just arrange some meaningless ODI series (maybe even against Zim) to boost the quota average for the season, giving them the flexibility to pick whatever teams they want in the Test matches.
Re: South Africa sets ''racial'' quotas for national team
Talk of quota players is unfortunate. Kagiso Rabada would walk into any team in the world, Temba Bavuma has a lot of talent, Imran Tahir is one of the leading ODI spinners, Wayne Parnell is a useful allrounder in shorter formats, and Andile Phehlukwayo has a lot of potential. Behardien and Duminy might be the only ones to gripe about.

Talk of the Quoteas appears to still be garbage. Australia getting hammered in their own backyard with the so-called "quota" players leading the way.

Yes but this isnt the way it will work.
If they satisfactorily get three niggas in the teamor whatever the qouta is, they will push it to 4.
When they get 4 solid ones and a few fringe platyers they will push it to 5 or 6 and so forth, to 'reflect the national makeup'.

Except that the current quotas have been set to reflect the number of current players of colour that would make the team on merit anyway.

I don't have any issues with Tahir, Rabada, Bavuma & other players. They are quality players.eugene wrote:Talk of quota players is unfortunate. What I've issue is with the set quota average. It generates discrimination & I believe that in the time of calculation quality players like Amla, Rabada etc will be counted as quota player will be a disgrace.
